Out of 800+ employees, we have...6 class designers?

So we can all agree that how a class feels and plays across all content ranging from world quests, M+, raids and even PVP is something that is completely essential to the games success. Yet we have I believe 6 or 7 class designers across 13 classes. This has lead classes like WW to remain awful, Spriest, to receive 3 reworks and is now a dead spec but Paladins to feel the best they ever have had.

While I’m passionate about playing around 10-12 specs in the game, it’s clear that the Monk and Shaman designer has never played Elemental or WindWalker. If Blizzard doesn’t move forward with a minimum of 1 designer per class, ideally one per spec, classes and specs will continue to die with next to no representation. Look at what’s happening to Demo, oof…

Too many cooks in the kitchen.
More doesn’t necessarily mean better.

But if they’re going to have a few select individuals, they have to be talented individuals that know what they’re doing.
And I’m sorry, but I still strongly stand by my opinion that whoever is in charge of Hunters and removed Double Tap should be fired. And now Hunter gets a raid buff which is just a mandatory GCD before we can actually start doing our rotation?

Get that person out of there.

What? Why is WW awful? Other than some scaling issues WW is great.

I agree that more doesn’t equal better. But I do think that the priority of balance is low.

Or maybe they’re just bad at communicating with each other.

The class is awful, no one plays it and it needs a rework. Check out Max’s most recent video.

I think I’ll pass. I’ve mained WW for years and don’t need anyone to tell me why I shouldn’t like it. It has never been a popular class so “nobody plays it” isnt very convincing

Laughs in RDruid and Disc Priest Tell me more about who hasn’t gotten reworks??

Rdruid has gotten some love but Disc priest has been dead in the water for like 3-4 expansions now. You can play it great if you love love triple love to hate yourself.

It’s generally not a good idea to get your opinions solely from someone that only ever talks about extremely high end mythic raiding. Applying his opinions to every area of the game, like you do so in the quote below, is an even worse idea.

You go gnomie. If you like something that isn’t hurting anybody, just block out the haters and enjoy it in peace

At least from an M+ perspective, disc is becoming much easier to optimize in 10.2. It is looking amazing to be honest. Schism and shadow covenant are basically now passive and baked into mind blast which will now have a 24s cooldown. Things are going to be much easier to line up.

Here’s hoping. I’m so sick of healing with wet noodles and doing damage with wetter more soggy noodles.

Actually Max talks about the average player 98% of the time and repeatedly says he hate a looking at this game at the high end.

That’s true, Max is a beast. Very knowledgable and talented but also looking out for the average players and our wants/needs.

I think it’s great.

Well that’s just false.

nope. max has never talked about pvp or world questers.

It was a bit confusing because op keeps saying class instead of spec and in this same video he cited, Max has both mist and brew as very highly regarded.

But the WW notes basically came down to; “its been bad for a while”, “they messed up the tier bonus (idk if that’s current or new tier. Something about feet)”, “serenity sucks but they keep pushing it”

Now I’m biased as I don’t enjoy WW and prefer my rogue as an energy based melee spec. But this summary doesn’t actually tell you why the whole spec needs a rework. I’m sure there are videos out there somewhere that go into more detail though.

Yeah, typically these threads boil down to:

“X spec is awful”
“Why is it awful?”
“Someone else told me it was”

It is true, the new tier bonus was messed up because it was originally based on auto attacks to proc an effect and excluded some abilities…but they have reworked that to include all attacks and increased the proc chance

Not sure about the pushing serenity thing.

Overall though I don’t disagree that more, skilled class devs would be a good thing.

Something like the mop warlock guy but for every class would be the dream. Unfortunately we know blizzards stance on that mess lol.

I still don’t like ww as a spec, I feel like demon hunter was the progression of everything they learnt with ww though.

But if it’s working for the current ww users then I’m not going to vote to destroy it :person_shrugging:

I don’t think anything will ever make monks as popular as paladins, druids or hunters. Heck, even when rogue is op you still don’t see massive populations in the wider pve sphere.

Do class designers work independently of each other?

Or does adding staff increase the number of meetings needed to keep everyone’s work on different classes in sync?
