So, a friend of mine that I play with and who runs M+ dungeons with me is blind. And I don’t just mean he has a really strong prescription or whatever. He’s actually blind and has to use addons that provide audio cues to be able to ‘see’ the game world. Many of the API hooks he uses for his addon that allows him to play will be deactivated IF Blizzard follows through with the things Ion mentioned in his PC Gamer interview.
I understand where Ion is coming from. I understand he wants to simplify the game so that addons are not needed by the majority of gamers to be able to do the content. The problem is that there is not a “normal” player. My biggest worry is that they are looking at raw data and not individuals. You can’t just lump the player base into buckets and make sweeping changes without understanding why people use addons to begin with.
Again with a personal shot. It’s an open forum and I am free to suggest or discuss anything I like as long as it remains within the confines of the TOS and the code of conduct. I simply said I wasn’t impressed by anybody who used add-ons to get a mythic plus rating and asked about our dependency on combat related add-ons. I don’t have to deal with anything except the facts.
It makes getting to that level a whole lot easier. I would be curious to see someone who got a 3300+ rating without using a single add-on. i’m sure that data does not exist because anyone who is competitive to that level is going to use every possible advantage which includes add-ons that tell them what to do.
I am expressing an opinion. I’m not bothered by how it’s received. I am bothered by the personal attacks that have to come with it. I feel like if you can’t discuss the topic at hand without resorting to ad hominem then you have already lost the argument. That of course, is not aimed at you, but had a very specific Mechagnome.
if the add-on tells me not to stand in the fire, move to another corner, take shelter behind a pillar, interrupt an incoming attack, or help soak damage, it is in fact telling me how to play the game. It’s not doing it for me, but it is telling me.
followed by the comment about looking in the mirror. If you can’t stay on topic and avoid taking jobs at people, I will gladly respond to everyone else in this thread, except you.
DBM gives all of that information. I don’t use it because I don’t do mythic plus or anything else that requires it. I think the most high-end add-on that I have right now is quest helper for when I get turned around on really weirdly word missions. but you feel free to insult everybody that uses DBM. I’m sure they appreciate it.
Reading the OP’S comments is like watching someone who has never played football sit in the stands at a stadium and mock the QB for using a wrist coach.
you could’ve ended after the first sentence, but you just can’t seem to help yourself by adding a backhanded comment to everything you post. Maybe you need a break from the forums you seem very jaded.
