What are some good MMOs out there to try. I’ve already tried FF wasn’t really into it but any other suggestions that could keep a WoW noob busy until later patches and hopefully the game is a sminch better.
Edit: anything with fun gameplay.

Don’t play two MMOs. Pick one and play single player games to fill the time.
Otherwise you’ll end up having to choose when both games have something happening at once.
Non really, everything out there that worth time is at least 5 years old and dying. Wait for New World or Ashes of Creation.
FFXIV is fabulous and the community is great, but it’s also WoW’s main competitor so people here won’t let you believe that. I also wasn’t into it at first because of the whole anime theme, but then I started playing it and now I know how much WoW is missing in the story-telling department as well as the class (job) balance department.
I’m not kidding when I say there’s great balance. Here is the difference between jobs at the highest level of raid:

Not much, unfortunately. Is Guild Wars 2 still a thing? It’s still running, but idk how popular it is anymore. The only other “Major” mmo’s anyone talk about is FF and ESO. Never tried ESO personally, so I can’t comment. I’ve tried FF, and like you, didn’t enjoy it.
Only other MMO I ever play is OSRS lmao, so I’m likely not a good source of opinion here . I can’t seem to get into any different MMO’s. I feel way too behind, way too lost trying to learn story/lore, etc.
I’d suggest GW2 to be honest, it’s a great game and crazy amounts of fun. You don’t get punished for leaving and coming back (never behind when you get Ascended Gear) so it’s much more chill which makes it a great second MMO to play.
It isn’t great as an mmo, but SWTOR is fantastic story telling. Like bar none amazing.
I would suggest paying for a 1 month sub and letting it lapse. This will get you preferred status. Their F2P model is the stingiest/worst model of any game I have seen.
Well I hear Hello Kitty Island Adventure is pretty good.
This isn’t WoW related. Please go in the off topic forum section and have this discussion there.
FFXIV is your best bet. Has a rich and nice story. Will give you plenty to do if you are new. I play both FFXIV and WoW on and off. Once I get board of one I switch to the other and do the stuff I missed in new patches.
ESO. You can play free so you don’t have to spend since you’re waiting on WoW. If you like it enough, get a sub. Great storytelling, cool abilities, and crafting is… well interesting at first, but can get boring.
Player housing, transmog, public dungeons, huge world, Cyrodiil is really fun if you can handle the lag. Shard hunting, multiple ways to build a class (obvs there is a ‘best’ way) as well as just anchors, which are fun imo.
I’ve said in another post that I’d rather be there (even as a 16 year vet of WoW) but my wife doesn’t enjoy it.
Biggest downside: 5 abilities + 1 ultimate per bar. 2 wep bars. That was the worst decision imo.
Objectively, the combat isn’t as polished and is very boring.
What job did you try? People who need to be mashing buttons every second should play a ninja.

It happened, and it was boring, which is why I play WoW and not FF.
I’m in the same boat. Looking for a new MMO but everything I want to try seems like it’s 7-8 years out.
I don’t think you know anything about FFXIV and I don’t think you’ve played ANY job. Almost all of them are very well made and the combat is slower but you get time to plan your cooldowns and responses to the mechanics.
That’s what people would call… BORING.
