Original Sub Date?

How do we validate the date of our original subscription? I ask this, not to call anybody into question, but maybe there’s a way other than using Blizzards customer account management website.

So, for example, I leveled two characters to 60 in Vanilla, including clearing MC, BWL, Ony, and AQ20. Further progress was stopped as TBC released.

So, out of curiousity (and, if I were to be completely honest, a bit of pique that I was not offered a beta invite), I went to Blizz’s account management page and tried to look up my initial sub date.

No Joy! The information on the account management page does not go back any earlier than 2011 (at least for my account). So, I filed a ticket asking what was the date of my initial sub purchase?

No Joy! Here’s their response:

I see that you would like to know when you purchased the WoW accounts XXXXXXX and YYYYYY. I was able to confirm that the two accounts registered to your Battle . net account were linked to the account in 2009 but created several years before that. Since the accounts were upgraded before the introduction of Battle . net, the purchase made for that upgrade is not registered in your transaction history.

This response is very confusing to me:

  1. Evidently the information about who subbed during Vanilla is available internally, but not to users.

  2. How were these 2 accounts registered to Battle . net account before Battle . net existed?

Has anyone been able to verify the date on which they first purchased a WoW subscription? If so, how?

Cheers,

I don’t remember those account credits. Was that for server crashes? Did we crash that much? I can’t remember lol

Yes

Yes.

All up, the first year and a bit, to the end of 2005, gave us 25 days of free credits I think.

Holy crap, I never even gave it much thought back then…

I used to just check my payment history but recently I can’t see beyond 2010 or something because I have so many purchases. To re-verify I called support and asked them if they could tell me the dates my accounts were opened. They told me the start dates of all of my accounts linked to my bnet and it only took 5 minutes to get them on the phone

C’mon, the servers went down for 5 days in march…

Some of them had it even worse like Blackrock, but I remember Silver Hand being laggy and crashing a lot early on.

Use the link above. My bnet only goes back to 2012 because that’s when I linked both under one bnet.

I was on Silvermoon and I didn’t feel like we crashed that much. If there was a 5 day crash, I may have been in field training or something at the time.

1/13/2005. Huh. Could’ve sworn the game started ruining my life before senior year. Memory’s a funny thing.

Finally! I kept trying to find this, thank you.

Apparently I started in 2006.

2/13/2006

Actually, you don’t get that anymore, and haven’t for a long time.

That said, it was fun going over that list and watching the renewal dates roll around due to game time credits. By the time I let my subscription lapse in 2011, my renewal date had rolled past the 23rd twice.

OP here. Thanks everyone for your responses. I have good news. A rep got back to me and verified my subscription started in July 2005 (I actually thought it was earlier but memory is a ephemeral thing).

Cheers,

Mine shows all of my purchase history, back to the beginning of vanilla.

I believe you. However, under account management the option I see on my accounts are “Transaction History” that only goes back to 2010. I tried using Eloraell’s link (see above) and, sure enough, I found that my first account went back to July 2005. I have no idea what’s going on.

Weird.
