I think we’ll be going to the realms of life in this expansion or the next. I think the Sunwarmed Furline is one of the creature types that exist there.

None of the previous in game shop mounts referred to Shadowlands
Except, they added Veilwings to Ardenweald. The Sylverian Dreamer is a Veilwing.

That mount was from a Dalaran citizen from a painting per lore
They probably reused the model for Shadowlands most likely

The blue fox mount and the the veilwing mount are both creatures in Ardenweald.

There is usually a mount that corresponds to the next xpac.
That being said, they release one new mount per quarter now… so we still got a few in SL that could point to next xpac (doesn’t have to be this one).
it’s using cat lovers for a basic greedy cash grab. I do not like it! (but the mount is nice) However once more they are dependent on artists and gimmicks to save their rear ends from their own mistakes.
I think it will be based on some Sun/Moon theme. The cat is related to the sun according to its mount description and name and we have already this mog datamined that surely will be available some day related to the Moon or New Moon.
Also the mounts Sapphire Skyblazer and Fireplume Phoenix (the orange model not yet available) are related in some way to Sun and Moon.

Suramar Fox is less elegant than the Ardenweald Fox.
The Ardenweald Fox Model debuted in the Store during BfA while the Suramar Fox debuted in Legion in Suramar.
A Gardens of Life Expansion will be interesting to see especially considering Elune’s connections to the Naaru(who are created by her according to Light’s Heart).
Bonus points if the reason we go to the Gardens of Life is due to a joint invasion by the Sporemounds and the Lightbound!

That is not a witch cat, it is a lynx kitten, and giant kittens are not a halloween theme.

It’s not a coincidence that they added the cat mount now, its a green-eyed witch halloween cat trying to cash in on halloween holiday.

The Heart of the Aspects mount that was added to the store at the end of Cataclysm looked like it would’ve felt much less out of place in MoP than in Cataclysm
Then they should have made it a cat instead of a a kitten, a black house/barn cat instead of a lynx, used a halloween themed saddle instead of an Ardenweald themed saddle, created a matching ghostly glow and outline instead of doing blue outline with yellow glowing feet, and put a witch hat on it like the feline familiar (and your pic).
Then it would have been a halloween cat. This is just a mess of ideas smashed together with no rhythm or reason.
If they had done all that and made it a smaller, less over the top size, even I would have been tempted to buy it when the mounts go on sale.
