Oribos vs Tazavesh

I just happen to be back screwing around in SL zones, and I’m sitting here thinking to myself, why does Oribos feel like this wasteland airport, and why is Tazavesh a dungeon, instead of the main-hub city we SHOULD have gotten. They could have literally just gotten rid of the top level of Oribos completely, kept the bottom level as some portal-basement for travel, and given us ALL of the interesting that is Tazavesh for our buying and selling, and tradeskills, etc.

In fact, even forget about the portals of Oribos, just make them part of Tazavesh. Give us literal portals to walk through and be in the other zones and forget about the flying nonsense.

So much of the structural design of SL is just poor. The individual zones have their interesting parts, and it does not link up well at all.

There’s this popular theory that Tazavesh was supposed to be the main hub. I don’t personally know if I believe that or not but the thing about SL is that… Oribos is fine.

But… not where it or the zones are located. The reason why it feels empty and a wasteland is that it is simply disconnected. All of SL’s zones feel disconnected. The thing is that I think I know what kind of feeling that they wanted to achieve with the tower but it just doesn’t work when it is fully disconnected like it was.

Imagine if Oribos had been located in a desert-like environment, with the Maw instead being this hostile zone in-between the different zones we primarily visited in Shadowlands. You put Oribos into a setting like that and even all of SL’s overall design genuinely make so much more sense, and I think that is what they wanted to get at but just completely flubbed it when all zones were disjointed from each other.

I’ve also recently been in and out of Oribos. I’ve been working on the Path to Ascension (or whatever it’s called) mail armor mog from the Kyrian.

All I know is whenever any of my characters are in Oribos, my sinuses seem to automatically dry up just like they do at an actual airport. It’s really been a sort of fascinating psychological phenomenon.

Other than that, I’ve also heard the same rumor that Shadybolt mentioned. How true that rumor is, though, is anyone’s guess.
