Orgrimmar and Stormwind Culture Shift

Orgrimmar and Stormwind might be in need of another revamp.

Worgens have been practically homeless for way too long, Night Elves lost their tree and amazing architecture, and Gnomes are still in a weird hovel.

Similarly Goblins got their tiny corner completely ruined with the allied race hall, and the Undead got gassed by their own leader.

What I had in mind was what the trolls have in Orgrimmar, a tiny town within a larger city representing Troll culture. They could do this for each main race and give more flavor to each faction.

How likely would this be after BFA? It would help unite the Horde races even more once all the Sylvanas drama ends, plus they get to reintroduce lore and racial culture that was lost in the past (a.k.a Cata)

I’ve always kind of suspected that the removal of the Night Elf and Forsaken capitals was part of a plan to cement the Horde as Kalimdor’s faction and the Alliance as the Eastern Kingdoms’. The “there but not really” capitals of Silvermoon and Exodar are another matter, but I wonder if there isn’t a plan to move the Forsaken into Darkshore more permanently for future game considerations, and likewise give the Kal’Dorei a greater permanent presence in, perhaps, Duskwood or the Wetlands or something similar.

That said, I always enjoy speculating about city revamps because it makes the game world feel more alive. The Cataclysm changes in Orgrimmar were a part of the story itself.

It’s a shame that right now Stormwind dedicates more space to graves than to shops and houses. The Worgen definitely could use a Gilnean styled quarter as the park district being rebuilt.

In Orgrimmar, the Gobs could really claim the canyon between the Valley of Honor and Azshara.

Goblins have the zone of Azshara more or less to themselves and their “capital” is Bilgewater Harbor.
Every other race drags their feet because they’re too busy being sad about losing their “ancestral homes”. Us? We’ll build a port town overnight.

“Welcome to the Horde. You can go here. We understand it may take time to settle into–”
“Don’t sweat it.”
BOOM. THERE’S A TOWN THERE NOW.
BOOM. THERE’S A ROCKET ROADWAY.
BOOM. WE RESHAPED THE LANDMASS TO LOOK LIKE THE HORDE SYMBOL.

Goblins: We get stuff done! (Now with decreasing work-related casualties!)

Learning from these industrious little cuties is what made me the engineer I am today!

Stormwind feels like it is way too crowded with races that have lost their home. I feel this is a golden opportunity to use Gilneas. It’s not being used whatsoever and that should be a crime because the theme of the zone is gorgeous. The architecture of the buildings is also amazing.

Could be a great way for the Gilneans to pay forward the night elves’ aid from the past and let them resettle somewhere within the zone and make it their own. There is plenty of room where the night elves could construct moonwells and bring some of their ancients along (until they take back Darkshore).

Fixed it for you, Saurfang is the one ripping us appart. You can argue because of Sylvanas but its still Saurfangs doing. Sylvanas only tried to unify us.

Unified in death, maybe.
If you genuinely think Sylvanas cares about the long-term health of the Horde and its population, you’re sorely deluded.

She’s playing a different game entirely, and we don’t know what it is yet.

Orgimmar is not big enough for all the old races to populate. Darkpsear should have a town / capital near those islands (Echo Isles?) in Durotar. Goblins can build up their island in Azshara or take the good for nothing pleasure palace and make that a capital. Tauren are good where they are at. Blood Elves can take Teldrassil.

You have just perfectly summarized why I like goblins so much.

Pretty wild to have that amazing city sitting idle

I hate that they’re trying to force us into Org and SW all the time. SW has become just as laggy as Boralus and Legion Dalaran especially around the mage tower. I haven’t been spending much time on Horde side this expansion yet so I’m not sure if Org is experiencing same type of lag. I’d rather they give some love to the other racial capitals and give each of the main races, at the very least, their own cities.

The Night elves should secure Feralas(with Eldre’thalas and feathermoon stronghold) as their new homeland

Gilneas and Kezan should be reclaimed by the worgen and goblins. Bilgewater harbour city could alternatively just have the capital city essentials added

The mag’har should get the underhold (why so lazy about this allied race, Blizzard?)

The forsaken could claim the ruins of stratholme or something, maybe scholomance? Idk, something along those lines

The darkspear were never much for cities, but they should have their own spot in Zuldazar like the other tribes

Gnomes, gnomeregan, obviously

Home is wherever you lay your headstone.

We were talking about this a few weeks ago, that the capitals need more cultural flavor.

For Orgrimmar:

  • Replace the elevators with Sin’dorei towers, complete with translocaters to their tops to access the flight masters.
  • Add some STAIRS up to the flight masters, possibly a covered crossing from the Valley of Honor ramparts up to the Cleft’s ceiling.
  • Add a forsaken district complete with their macabre architecture in the covered valley approaching Orgrimmar’s back entrance.
  • Move the portal nexus into the Cleft of Shadows, to maintain parallel consistency with Stormwind and to protect the area from raids.
  • Give the Houjin a pandaren style inn in the Valley of Honor, where the auction house currently stands. They can still have auctioneers inside. (I’d say replace Wyvern Tail Inn, but there’s a bunch of quests that point there… it might be a problem)

For Stormwind:

  • Add a Draenei district in the lake between the outer and inner gate… made out of the crashed Vindecaar.
  • Add a Gilnean district (complete with their Victorian architecture) connecting the Dwarven district to the embassy. Set up a second road leading into Stormwind keep through its courtyard.
  • Add a Kaldorei lodge at the edge of the new Gilnean district
  • Build a pandaren wall with guard towers connecting the Cataclysm portal area to Redridge Mountains.

That way it’s at least evident that the core races are living in these places.

Ugh, no. Hopefully Sylvanas Blights Orgrimmar into the nether realm so the Horde can live in a modern city that isn’t a bunch of hovels glued together with dried Clefthoof poop.

Real villains cheer for gentrification.

We also appreciate wine that doesn’t taste like it’s been fermented from pig piss in the salt pools outside Orgrimmar.

There’s nothing sadder than the primitives thinking gentrification is a bad thing as they bathe themselves in the runoff from their pig farms because some baked out shaman several thousand years ago said something about waste not want not. :worried:

Hahahahahahaha…
Excuse me I need to catch my breath.
Hahahahahahahaha.
Of course, people somehow think Sylvanas is fixing anything or unifying anything, except blighting her own city and dragging the Allied Races into a faction where the current Warchief loves genocide.

If they removed the entire Eastern Kingdoms and everything in it including Stormwind tomorrow I wouldn’t care.
