Does any one know of a complete, and accurate, list of ore vein levels. I am looking for the mining-skill level that the ore becomes orange and my toon can start mining it. I also want the levels when it turns yellow, green, and gray for each and every ore. I have search the web for an hour and found inaccurate ones and incomplete ones.
The “orange” level is the mining-skill level when it is first possible to mine the ore vein. Then I want the mining-skill level where each ore changed to the next color.
I want to fill in this table:
Vein: orange, yellow, green, grey
Copper: 1, ?, ?, ?
Tin: 65, ?, ?, ?
Silver: 75, ?, ?, ?
Iron: 125, ?, ?, ?
Gold: 155, ?, ?, ?
Mithril: 175, ?, ?, ?
Truesilver: 230, ?, ?, ?
Dark Iron: 230, ?, ?, ?
Small Thorium: 245, ?, ?, ?
Rich Thorium: 245, ?, ?, ?
You can always mine it, sans classic. Just not going to get as much unless your skill is high.
This info is literally nowhere, it’s funny. Because Wowhead only has capacity to store one set of colour data and it uses it to record the Smelting numbers - which are not the same as the Mining numbers - it’s as though this is one of WoW’s great mysteries.
I also suspect they adjusted the numbers at a few times over the years, especially when they separated the tiers by expansion but other times for balance also.
Since no dispassionate data collection site is gathering it, you’d have to rely on human info which is at best unreliable and often completely fabricated. I suspect that means collecting it yourself to be sure. You can be confident the yellow and grey numbers are multiples of 5 so you don’t have to check every node at every skill level, just within every 5-chunk to see if it changed.
You don’t need to check green at all, green is always just halfway between yellow and grey.
I have a couple of Draks that took Mining so eventually I will probably drag myself through leveling Classic Mining on them and will collect my own data. But as I said I’m pretty sure they tweak it sometimes so it’s only good for a time.
It should be in the unearned area of the profession, the greyed out ones listed at the bottom. Clicking on each will give you what is needed to learn each one.
For mining, I just completed my main’s (this character) classic mining to 300. For me I looked up the wow profession web page and used the mining route for the ore that would get me the most skill ups the longest and head back to learn the next ones when they ding.
I usually could mine most of it and get a skill up even at low levels. Much of the skill up system has changed though from what I remember from doing it on my older miner.
I couldn’t get ANY skill ups after anything at 290 so ended up having only Dark Iron Ore smelting showing a skill up. Others said Rich Thorium nodes got them to 295 but I don’t think they did for me. I circled old Silithus dozens of times to get to there once I could mine those. You can mine continually as no one really mines there, at least on Moon Guard as nodes respawn quickly.
Thanks. I am so glad to hear that I am not utterly incompetent at finding WoW info.
