Ore nodes disappearing on landing?

I’ve been traveling around in the Ringing Deeps mining here and there. I’ll land to mine a node, I may or may not even get a chance to swing my pickaxe, and it will simply disappear with no ore collected. Probably around 10% to 20% of the time.

Are these nodes simply despawning due to being on a fixed timer or something? Or is this a wonky phasing issue?

Somebody previously mined them (they’re set to despawn about 60? seconds later)

Less commonly it’s a phasing issue.

This, it’s frustrating but it happens

Same with herbalism… constant disappearings upon landing.

Its the bots using up all the node charges.

Do they respawn once you mount up and start flying away?

Phasing.

Poor game design.

Bots and phasing, what ya gonna do?

At least you didn’t start and have it despawn as soon as you finish mining, garnering you with zero ore.

It’s more likely they are just following someone on a similar farming path and are at just the right timing to hit the node despawn timer after it’s been used by someone else.

This isn’t anything new or broken.

Best way to address it if you’re constantly getting to herb/ore nodes just as they despawn is to:

  1. reverse your farming route
  2. speed up and skip a node or two to catch up to whoever is ahead of you so that you aren’t catching the nodes just as they despawn.

I’m honestly not too sure. I’m not hard farming really, just leveling and gathering at the same time. That would probably be a good determinator to gauge whether or not it was phasing.

Oh, actually this has happened to me a handful of very disappointing times LOL.

They need to make it so that if you start mining/herbing a node before it disapears, you still can finish the cast and get the materials from that node…

I truly didn’t even realize nodes were on a minute timer after anyone gathers them. It makes total sense and I’m actually happy they work that way (for RPG reasons lol). For some reason, I’d thought gathering nodes were player-side only (as in spawned and respawned completely based on your own character’s actions), due to how multiple players can gather the same node instead of competing for them like in old-WoW. It definitely makes more sense that they are simply on a timer that progresses from any player’s interaction. Thanks guys.

so it isn’t just me lol

I’m just faster than you are

The irony of it all is that I never noticed anyone around the nodes that are disappearing. You really are the Flash!!!

It’s annoying when it happens while your mount is doing that silly anti-gravity hover right above it.

Happens a lot but I guess folks/bots are farming the hell out of them.

I know this issue isn’t new, but it has been much worse lately . Today its so bad that I’ve only managed to gain a few skill points (no loot) in the past 2 hours of herb/ore farming in any new zone. Mostly they are phasing out and back in, and I wondered if there’s a trick to fixing the phasing? Relogging didn’t help, I’m guessing not much could be done. When I have successfully managed to start picking or mining anything it respawns before any loot drops. Sometimes I get a skill point but nothing else. It is super frustrating, and changing routes, zones, or even farming on an alt on a different server hasn’t helped.

If the character you’re on is still leveling you may want to check your quest log. There are a lot of quests that will phase you in various zones for the purposes of the quest. In Hollowfall especially, there are a lot of campaign and side quests that will cause phasing.
