Ordered this for my MIL. Tell me how bad my decision was

Tried to push the mini PCs with VESA mounts and an external DVD drive, but she didn’t want that. The DVD drive had to be integrated into the unit. Oh well.

They had $160 models without SSDs, which I could easily add an SSD, but they are the Dell Optiplex models that are black/silver bicolor (she wanted an all-black one) and for the larger HDD and an SSD, price was kind of a wash anyway. It was also tricky to find models that actually had DVD drives and an SSD.

Plus if its all in there, all I need to do is a reset and call it a day. She has no need for 16GB of RAM but…eh. I got tired of digging through listings.

Briefly considered 4th gen i7s or 6th gen i5s, but ultimately the price difference I don’t think was worth it for her uses.

How did I do?

Similar specs to my current work PC and it does all the things you are looking for with no issues. For the price that’s pretty good

Hell it’s better than my work laptop.

It’s an i7-4600m (dual core, HT), 8GB RAM, and a 300GB HDD.

I’d pay $50 if they would let me install in SSD in mine. But nooooooo

If all she does is the above than this Machine will do fine for many years, You decision was fine.
