Now I love the iconic Orc Shaman. Big fan of WC3 Course I’ve been tempted to go Tauren because very spiritual people and it kind of makes sense they’d use Totems. That said I was messing around and well…

The hidden artifact appearance for Doomhammer works terrifyingly well with Zandalari Heritage set. Like, damn.
I don’t know. Maybe I should focus on just getting one class to max on the new server before sorting my alts.
I’m a big zandalari fan. They have a very noticabile stance, and you’ll stand out more. There’s a lot of orcs. I guess it’s just a matter if you want to stand out from the crowd or blend in more? Honestly both look really good.
Shaman use to be spiritual in WoW but they haven’t been for a long while now …
I was hoping they’d touch base on it in Legion but nope, just the elements (Minus the 5th element of ‘SPIRIT’)
Despite a lot of orderhalls having a lot of Alliance faction theme put into them, you’d think Shaman would get some Horde representation with orcs or trolls with their connection to the spirits or their culture but nope again … Small token nod to Grimtotem & Tauren so I’ll give them one point for that, but still rather small.
Heck, even in the prologue book to Shadowlands it foreshadowed the Shaman feeling an unease with the spirits and disturbances in the spirit planes … Then in the Shadowlands expansion? That’s right –
ZERO Shaman Content
The game needs a class-lore quest for shaman where they touch basis with the ‘spirit’ side of their class. Heck even if they get a small role to play in the Emerald Dream patch, to help the druids out with the Wild Gods (Given they’re spiritual beings).
Anyway ~
Moral of this story & rant is that I’d go with the Orc Shaman because they’d feel more centric & themed with the class as it holds currently in the lore of the game.
As for transmog consideration – Orcs you have problem with shoulderpads, Zandalari Troll you have problem with feet mogs.
Don’t remind me of that. I was absolutely furious when I saw how they handled this particular Order Hall. I mean all of them were done badly, but this one really made me upset for the reasons you listed. Imagine if Paladin Order Hall was run by Tauren. That’s how it felt with this one. Space goats everywhere, and the founder of this organisation pushed into corner.
And I fully agree that Shaman was reduced to Elementalist, while it should’ve been spiritual leader as well. And that spiritually was absolutely neglected.
As for OP: I guess it depends on the aesthetic you like the most. Both races are excellent choice. But with Zandalari you get to pick your racial, and you get extra glider which could be handy, and +2% extra gold from looted mobs.
But I don’t know if these are the factors you’re interested in. Orcs have as many great mogs as trolls when it comes to shaman class.
What is a pity is that it’s the only class where you get thematic gear for these races.
Zandalari, hands down. If it wasn’t for the fact I’m a collector and want all the Heritage sets, the vast majority of my Horde toons would be Zandalari.
Now that the Emerald Dream patch is here — Looks like there wasn’t any spiritual content for the Shaman, yet again Thought perhaps Goldrinn would give us something to play with (Spirit wolves & all) – Or at least hoping
