Orc is probably the best current pick for a Hunter but it seems like Marksman is going to get buffed soon possibly making Troll a better choice.

Orc is decent for the extra Pet dmg, the extra weapon skills will probably be better if your gonna go Melee.
Trolls get a bonus to Bows, and I believe even in Naxx, the best wep for hunters was still a bow. you also get Berserking, which was pretty strong for classic era.
Boils down to if you care about min/maxxing or not.

Tauren is bis - extra stun, 5% more hp, cool cow, nature resist, bigger melle / more range, bonus to herbing.

Racials and how the races are weren’t updated for SoD, so that shouldn’t affect anything.

Troll for pve, orc for BM pvp, Tauren for “I want a melee stun” pvp.
None of that matters. Orc is bis for looks ez. Trolls look questionable with everything and have rear toe nails, taurens get stuck in some door ways. Fashion>everything

5% hp and extra range is pretty powerful as well.
But in competitive pvp, nothing beats dropping a freezing trap in tunnel + warstomp on half an enemy team and watching them get all tangled up.
You can also warstomp + fd + trap which has no GCD, whereas scatter does. It isn’t as reliable as scatter, but if you potatoed the scatter and have no other option, it can come in clutch.

Tauren female > Orc female
Orc. It’s not even close. Stun resist, axe skill, and bonus pet damage. Ranged weapon skills don’t matter like melee because there’s no glancing blows.
From a minmax perspective its hard to recommend anything but Orc. Not only are their racials perfectly suited for the melee dps builds that are dominant now (and are tied at worst for ranged builds) but Hardiness is absurdly busted for PvP.
Troll racials are irrelevant for pvp, and while solid for PvE they’re not as good as they might seem; weapon skill for ranged weapons matters far less than it does for melee weapons for technical reasons, Beast slaying is good when its relevant but useless otherwise, and Beserking is tricky to get really good use out of.
Idk with melee orc seems like the obvious answer.

But that’s just my feels.
This is the growth of a hunter:
- pve only - troll
- new to pvp - orc
- pvp god - tauren
No hunter can come close to the power of a female tauren hunter.
In solo world play perhaps, but in pvp people will almost never stun a hunter (and if they do you basically are already winning).
5% hp, bigger hit box, warstomp are all insanely useful.
