There was some advantages to the old goblin models vs the new one. Now for the most part I think that the female goblin models are an improvement in almost every way, but particularly for the male goblin models they were in many ways better before the model updates. Few reasons why:
Grittier and dirtier looking.
Didn’t have as much of a beefcake sort of look. The male goblins look like they have had too much plastic surgery.
The eyebrow was removed.
Eyes looked a bit more souless and monstrous. This was particularly good for edgier mogs.
I think that ship has sailed. Given that they actively removed the option after it had already existed for the other races, I doubt they’re interested in bringing it back. They would likely view that as a step backwards rather than a way to move forward.
It’s unrelated to your main point but that strikes me as a very goblin thing to do.
Anyway… i agree… old Goblins models had different faces. Now we have been cursed with same face syndrome, and our face actually meaning a different eye color.
I don’t have any goblin alts so I have less stake in this issue, but I’d like to see goblins get customization options that bring the model more in-line with the pre-cata goblin model (currently visible in Classic). The original models look crummy because they’re so old, but their design has a charm that was lost in the creation of playable goblins.
I think this is the only one of your list I disagree with. I love both Orcs, but female Orcs are 100% my scene.
Also as far as Night Elves go, if we’re talking male, they’ve been horrible since Classic. I don’t know if it’s the head ache cast or the hands the size of his own thigh, but I have always considered the male Night Elves to be one of the worst models in WoW, haha.
Blizzard don’t want old models in-game simply because they are old and not up-to-date with the current art. They are also updating everything and optimizing the way they will mass do it in the future.
Okay is generous. I always wished the models were closer to the WCIII models (not Reforged). They had less polygons yet still somehow looked better than Vanilla.
