I agree. It should’ve been an option already built in to disable those. They’re honestly anything but immersive or helpful imo.

Disable the voice prompt as well…

That one addon that blocks shadowlands initial quest also blocks the talking head popups. The addon is called Skip Shadowlands (No Chilling Summons) on Curse.

I don’t mind them, I just want to move them. It sucks that every pop up from looting, mounting, casting, etc are all in the bottom center of the screen.

It makes the game feel like a single player game for me.

Like I have the NPCs on a walkie-talkie telling me how to complete some mission.

How are they even talking to me? Unless that specific npc is a mage or something, they should have zero way to communicate like that when I’m out questing in the world

It’s weird and gives me halo vibes for some reason

Been using Silent World Quests for years because the pop up’s are just so annoying

So how would you feel if the game was like Final Fantasy, where questgivers all talk to you and you cant opt out of it at all? Maybe even add ons dont work to stop it? I ask in all seriousness as its an interesting idea.

So many people go over to FF14 and say it has a great story and thats its a lot more immersive because of how the story is vocalised. Would that make it worse in WoW? I dunno personally, would depend on how it was handled.

It’s extremely unimmersive to fly over a zone and have like a billion people pop up on your screen and talk to you. Leave me the hell alone!

i have zero problem with these talking heads popping up during quests. My issue with them is when they pop up during a mythic + dungeon where I’m tanking and they completely cover up my UI

a million times yes

FF was a slog of sometimes unskippable cutscenes, many of which were just “slowly pan to your character, watch as they nod meaningfully, pan back to NPC talking, fade out”

like give me a break…it was ridiculous.

let’s not forget the forced animations - NPC giving you a quest item, you sit there frozen while they stick their hand out (with nothing in it), you stick your hand out (and take nothing) and then finally you can go on your way.

but yea, I wore my escape key out skipping as many cutscenes - and there were a LOT of them - as I could. I want to play the game, not watch a movie.

finally realizing I could skip the MSQ and leave most of that crap behind was the best moment of my FF leveling experience :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

please please please please never ever NEVER bring that type of storytelling to wow.

on topic: I’m using an addon to hide the talking head frame. it’s one of the most annoying additions they’ve placed in the game that I can think of.

You can at least move it around and minimize it down to nothing with ELVUI. Not sure if it can be disabled.

RPGs as a genre, might not be for you.

My only gripe is that it covers the cast bar.

Talking heads, loot, currency, everything that pops up… covers the cast bar.

It would be really nice if all the pop ups were at the top of the screen instead of the bottom.

Move Anything will help you both! :slightly_smiling_face:

The notalkingheads addon functions properly, so solve the problem yourself. Blizz has important existential issues to figure out.

Also for whatever reason, the dialogue and music/sounds from cutscenes and ‘newer’ quests blast through even if you have sound, music, and dialogue muted.

It’s annoying that in reality there continues to be more and more addons to fix problems Blizzard refuses to, but also that the main addon repository keeps getting bought out to shadier and shadier companies.

That’s because blizz has the default toast location there (achievements/drops). One more thing that needs to be added to the native modulation of the ui vs relying upon moveanything/ls:toasts.

And ONLY IT. There’s an option, but of course it’s tied to other things I want enabled. Or make it once we’ve seen it once, it never returns.

Very aggravating in a mythic when it pops up and completely obscures the fight. Does it really need to be dead center of the screen?

that is funny, i think all of that stuff is anything but immersive. I personally hate cutscenes, popups, anything that shatters the standard view of the world i have via the user interface. I liek that wow’s stuff liek that can be disabled or skipped. I have zero interest in playing final fantasy for that reason. Its a huge waste of time and i wish blizz would stop putting so many dev hours into that kind of thing that adds extremely little tangible value to the player experience. If there’s an epic moment, sure, make a cutscene for it. I wont watch it but thats cool. But every 5 minutes during the shadowlands campaign thers been something and i sit and wait ready to press escape, skip

Humongously ancient thread, I know, but threads that were opened just 8 days ago, have already been shut down instead of a month after the last reply, so I’m not able to post the solution.

If using the new standard UI, go into ‘Edit Mode’ and you’ll see ‘Talking Head’ there - just untick the box.

No idea what to do if using ElvUI since I’ve stopped using that and all addons (except Altoholic) for the first time in years.

i just want to be able to edit the size of it of it. make it a small quare i could put in the corner
