I just started playing mage, and I noticed there’s no option to name your water elemental like you can with hunter pets! He may be my minion, but he is shaped like a friend and suffers this indignity with every passing moment…

I guess. But everyone would want to call it Drip. 
it’s a sentient being that you enslaved, it already has a name, just because you’re too rude to ask what it is doesn’t mean you should get to name it yourself.
Hey, he can tell me his name anytime he wants. The man isn’t much of a talker, though, he mostly just makes splashy sounds at me with the occasional splish.
Mine is called Dusty.
We did have that option at one stage, can’t recall the xpac it was available and next xpac it was removed.
The options are Water Elemental and Bubbles
Mine is named Squishy and i would really love it to be named.

Don’t worry, you will never use water elemental, it’s massive dps loss even for casual gameplay
it was a bug, and it lasted about 2 weeks.

You can ask the Demon Trainer to summon a new one for you for a different name, idk why mage trainers can’t do the same thing
Yeah, I was sad to read that it’s pretty worthless in pretty much all scenarios right now 
But I still like to spec into it for random open world content and such, just for the RP value, haha. I suppose that’s pretty niche, but it’d still be neat to have the rename option on the off-chance that they buff water ele in the future.
