I just want a piece of transmog from the FIRST boss of the second uldir LFR wing. It drops from fetid. I have tried 3 times to get into it but every time get queued in with groups on Zul. Please Blizzard, give me a way of opting OUT of groups that are already partway through a run. Make there be some sort of incentive for being willing to join any group, fresh or partially run, and then nothing extra for opting for only a fresh run. I just want to fight the first boss, not the third boss over and over and over again.

There should be a "Join in-Progress" checkbox on the queue screen that awards a goody bag to people willing to party-up with a half-finished group. The default (unchecked) option would be a fresh run. This helps groups fill up quicker and lets people opt out of partial runs.
This has been a major irritation for me recently. I want a trinket from Mythrax, but every time I queue in LFR, I get a group that has already killed him. So I just leave right away and take the deserter debuff. That's happened to me three times just this week.
You used to see the count of remaining bosses, so you were able to choose not to join a group if bosses were dead. Groups that lost people never filled up because nobody wanted to join and they eventually fell apart. It was worse than the current system.
If you just take that queue and finish it, you're almost guaranteed to get a fresh run when you queue next.

What this guy said. The alternative was much much worse, which is why we have what we have now.

Not almost guaranteed, but actually guaranteed.

False. Almost guaranteed. The system tries to find a fresh group but this isn't always possible. So while unlikely, you can get multiple in progress runs.
On topic, they did this when LFR was first released.
It didn't end well.
nope. Has been tried before, was waaaaay worse than the actual system.

This is good to know. I'll just kill the bosses I don't need and hope for the best next time. Thanks!

Yeah, it sucked with that system before. You'd get to the final boss and never finish.

No problem. Yes, it takes longer than killing only the boss you want. It's still much faster than waiting out multiple debuffs!
The ironic thing is people like this create the problem they're complaining about. You're not willing to kill the boss, "you don't need," so if you DID get a fresh one you'd leave after Mythrax and guess what, some poor guy gets pulled in to fill your spot.

This would be relevant if it were the only reason people left in the middle of a run. It's not. People get kicked, people get DC'd, people have something come up and quit, etc.
There are all sorts of reasons an in-progress run can be short people after one or more bosses. Completing each run depends on the community of people using LFR to be willing to help finish those in-progress runs so they can expect to have their own in-progress runs finished.

Based on some of the posts on this forum, you’d think that willingness is rare.

The person you quoted still makes a valid point though, regardless of whatever other reasons there are for people leaving (or being made to leave) LFR groups.

Don't worry about it, that's Zolthar. He likes to argue and will just change what you're talking about if he can't find something in your comment that is wrong.

He said, "people like this create the problem they're complaining about"
First of all, it's not a problem, it's just part of how the system works.
Second, they're not creating it if there are other people leaving for other reasons. They may be contributing, but they aren't solely responsible.
And finally, it's not a problem.

Obviously it's a problem for him, and where in my post did i say they're the SOLE cause of this problem. True or false, if he gets a fresh instance, then leaves after Mythrax, some other guy who may have wanted Mythrax is going to get pulled in to replace him? There is nothing for you to argue here.

Stopping at red lights is a problem for me when I'm in a hurry. Does that mean they are objectively a problem, or does it mean I need to get over the fact that things not being convenient for me specifically doesn't elevate them to the level of actual problems?
11/08/2018 09:58 AMPosted by Leafblightwhere in my post did i say they're the SOLE cause of this problem
You said it creates the problem. If I took that too literally to mean that the alleged problem of in-progress runs only exists because of people leaving when they no longer need loot then I apologize.
If all you're saying is that people leaving because they don't need loot from the next boss is one of the many reasons that LFR groups have in-progress openings then I agree with you.

That's true, and again, maybe I misinterpreted, but I read your phrase as essentially blaming this situation on people who leave when they no longer need loot, and not recognizing that there are people who leave for other reasons. Again, if that was not your intent, then I apologize.
Finish the wing and queue again. You will get a fresh one.
