Opinions aside, the factions are not getting equal effort

Whether you like or hate vulpera, gnomes, and mechagnomes.

Whether you play Horde or Alliance.

The factions are just not getting treated equally and it’s never been this severe.

I am honestly almost at the point where I want to start compiling a clear, concise list of every instance in BfA where there was just more work, more planning, or just plain favoritism shown in this expansion but I’m worried the list would just go on forever and I would never really get it done.

When I saw the 8.3 preview and I saw the Mechagnome standing there in their heritage armor, I legit 100% did not know I was staring at heritage armor.

I had no idea. I looked it up a day later and started laughing because I had never seen a heritage armor before and not immediately noticed it was a heritage armor set…

The Vulpera heritage? Look at the detail. Look at the backpack. Look at the belt pouches, multiple kinds of belt pouches! And throwing knives!

So much hi-res detail, so much work put into this race and this heritage set.

Even if you hate Vulpera, you just cant stand anything even remotely furry and you HATE them, you cannot deny the effort that was put into this brand new immaculate race.

Not an allied race, not a subrace, this is a brand new race (based on the goblin skeleton rig but the rig has essentially been reconstructed into an entirely new skeleton rig at this point that’s how much work they did on these guys).

Kul Tirans? They added like one or 2 new options in the character creation screen because players were justifiably disappointed there were literally so few options for beards and stuff.

Zandalari? My god we aren’t even going to start on the Zandalari they look so clean and so good and those racials…

I don’t want to write a book today about the factions but there are so many examples, literally a books worth I’m sure.

Aesthetic preferences aside, Alliance have been getting the short end of the stick for over a year now and it’s not really looking like that is going to change.

You even keep seeing it in game. It was just so soul crushing yesterday looking at those new vulpera and that new heritage set… and then the mechagnomes. By all rights they could have just been a much needed customization boost to the gnome race to get more players to play gnomes.

I hear you.

I don’t know how they can rationalize giving one faction an obvious subrace, and the other faction a truly unique RACE, and then saying “ok, both factions got new allied races”

Whut?

I don’t care if Vulpera were based on existing skeletons, they LOOK entirely different and they are obviously a species that has no genetic or lore-based connection to an existing main race.

For there to be parity, and to stick with BFA races, the Alliance should have gotten something like the Sethrak (lore notwithstanding).

I think we did get a better deal for Legion rep ARs. I think a lot of effort went into KT humans aswell, druid forms are great.

Mechagnome I think was something that was just easy to do, maybe they know it was low effort so they gave them decent racials.

it’s not just allied races.

It’s the entire aspect of the factions and how everything in this game needs to have a counterpart for the opposing faction.

Why do the horde get such obvious favoritsm in Siege of Boralus? You literally PROGRAMMED boss fight to be easier for horde players. Why??? Why would you program a boss to be easier? This extends into mythic+ as well so this is a big deal.

Why do Horde players get to instantly teleport out of Mechagon island by talking to an NPC even if they are in combat with an Alliance player?!?!?! Are you f’ing kidding me? Are you serious??? How did that make it into the game?? Every Alliance player needs to take a 5 minute flight or find a super rare NPC spawn who drops an even rarer blueprint and then you can craft a hearthstone to get there but so can Horde players…

The story of BfA.

The cinematics of BfA.

Even the f’ing bee mount is being added in 8.3 as an old god mount so horde players can get the bee mount model toooooooo!

Like it just never ends. You constantly keep seeing examples in game and the vulpera are the last frickin nail in the coffin it feels like. How could they not address this? How could they keep perpetuating it?

We’re about to start the 15th anniversary with the special AV event. Guess which faction is going to steamroll the other faction with a near 100% winrate while the alliance get yet another participation trophy: An updated ram mount.

Just on and on. Is it just a money thing? Is all the money in Asia now? Are the Horde like THE faction to play in the Asian region? What is going on with WoW? Why is it so horde centralized now? Even the story of BfA… The alliance didn’t win ANYTHING.

The Horde conceded NOTHING. The Alliance completely lost the Fourth War and got nothing but yet another peace agreement with the Horde… after the Horde destroyed 2 more capital cities and gained an entire new empire of trolls and oh yeah I guess Calia wants to join the Forsaken now because Lillian Voss wrote her a letter and she’s really really sorry she burned down that world tree and stabbed all those civilians in the stomach as they tried to run away screaming. She’s sorry :frowning:

It never ends…

If it’s any consolation, alliance players can sail to the opposing faction’s BFA zones and access their war table right from the harbor outside their Boralus “home base” but Horde have to hop on a flight and travel a fair distance to the zuldazar harbor.

I know. It’s no consolation

It’s kinda starting to feel like I’m part of an increasingly rare group of Alliance players that actually like playing Alliance

I’ve been Alliance for 7 years.

It stopped the second they announced 8.3 AR.

I’ve been working hard power-leveling a Horde hunter.

I was expecting Vulpera to be Horde, yes… but I was hoping Alliance would get something nice. We did not.

Is that why Alliance have gotten an Allied Race with a complete new skeleton, and on top of that, also the only faction to recieve a new mount that is not a reskin?

I would gladly trade you this stupid Bee for the vulpera.

it’s the fact that we like playing Alliance in the first place that we are so saddened and upset about BfA.

It felt like I was watching Jaina have a story, I worked my butt off for those Kul Tirans and they didn’t even show up when it mattered when we attacked Dazar’alor.

Then somehow the Alliance is just super weak all the time. They are soooooo weak.

Dude, why is the horde so well-equipped to handle a guerilla war in enemy terrain for an extended period like this?

The Night Elves know Darkshore, it’s their home, they are well equipped to do a geurilla war striking at the horde forces and supply lines and then vanishing into the forests.

But nope. We’re just soooooooooooooo bloody weak we can’t do anything Tyrande! Sorry! Why is the Horde never suffering this problem? Sure no problem Horde easily gets to hold Darkshore.

Anytime it looks like Alliance could get an advantage, they just conveniently get some mass-casualty event and get wiped out effortlessly. The bizarre bickering and in-fighting? Why?

Why are Alliance so hopelessly weak and inept all the time? Why isn’t anyone playing our new allied races? I see more worgen and void elves than anything. Kul Tirans flopped HARD. Dark Irons look good but dwarves are just not that popular among Alliance players. 80% of us play humans and elves.

The dwarf set is pretty awesome, as is the gnome one. Can’t remember what the other available ones look like.

The arthai plate sets are really sweet as well.

I do agree some of the horde stuff nicer, like our lack of 17,000 horses.

Draenei and Worgens want to have a word with you. Blood Elves was the only unique race the Horde has gotten in a long, long, time. The BFA races are nothing but polished versions of existing races. Updates that could have been standard options for existing races.

Horde got one of the best shield transmogs in the game as well as a respectable plate set that matches possibly the best shield transmog in the game.

Ya the alliance plate set is really good, but the cape we saw when they revealed BfA?

EVEN THE CAPE WAS A LIE. FROM DAY 1 IT HAS BEEN ALLIANCE DISAPPOINTMENTS LOL.

Horde lost 2 original game characters (Saurfang and Sylvanas) plus King Rastakhan, the whole war was started because Blizzard’s writers ran out of ideas and dredged up the MoP storyline to do it all over again, but this time Sylvanas “BURN IT” Windrunner gets the cartoon villain treatment instead of Garrosh, and the war ends when she just says “oh never mind” and flies away.

I think it’s pretty clear one faction is getting the raw end of the deal, here, but I don’t think it’s the faction you’re saying it is.

Alliance Allied Races + Feature + Horde Allied Races

  • Lightforged Draenei - Cosmetic Reskin - Highmountain Tauren
  • Dark Iron Dwarves - Cooler Cosmetic Reskin - Maghar Orcs
  • Void Elves - Opposite Faction Elf Reskin - Nightborne
  • Kul Tiran - New Skeleton and New Forms - Vulpera
  • Mechagnomes - Modified Skeleton with Special Racials - Zandalari Trolls

I don’t know about you, but the Allied Race section seems pretty even after this next patch. Each side has a race that clearly took more work (Kul Tiran and Vulpera), one that was almost an afterthought (LFD and Nightborne), and one that’s just a cooler version of an original (Maghar and DID).

Just relax a bit and play both sides!

My favorite part is on the launcher, where it says the “thrilling conclusion to the alliance vs horde war campaign” where… last i looked… that big war-ending cinematic was horde vs horde

Well if we want to critique the marketing, I wouldn’t call it “thrilling” either.

See this?

This is pure entitlement right here.

He’s taking the entire expansion’s story revolving around his faction, and somehow trying to spin it as him getting the raw deal here.

Rhastakhan? He was one of the oldest characters in the game but did anyone even know what he looked like before BfA? Probably not.

You are upset that you had more deaths than the Alliance?

YOU CAN’T HAVE ANYONE DIE IF THEY HAVEN’T BEEN BOTHERED TO BE GIVEN A STORY FOR THE LAST 18 MONTHS DUDE.

We don’t have a story. We have the 8.0 zone questlines, just like the Horde got, but then it just flatlines.

That’s it.

They don’t show up for the Battle of Dazar’alor. They don’t show up for Nazjatar. It really doesn’t look like the Kul Tirans ever actually show up when it matters in BfA, instead Jaina seems to be their representative and Jaina’s personal story reconciling wither her family and people is what passes as the BfA story for Alliance.

But again we don’t even get to see our new allies when it ever matters.

Horde? We’ve got war campaign, we’ve got 3 new zones of quest lines

We’ve got back story to the new dungeons! OMG that loa was just killed thats so sad! Alexa, play the Horde theme please.

We’ve got unique new mount models. And you don’t have to wait 15 months to get them! We’ve got easier dungeons. We’ve got allied races that people actually want to play! And we actually put effort into them and their heritage armor! 2 helm options for goblins! Because why do gnomes need the same options! WHO CARES RIGHT??!?!?!

WHO CARES.

The entire expansion’s story wasn’t about the Horde, at least not if you’re playing on the Horde side.

You’re thinking of Legion, which WAS entirely about the Alliance, no matter which faction you played. Horde was absolutely invisible and M.I.A.

(And before you go in with “but Sylvanas in Legion was blah blah blah”… you don’t even see that as a Horde player. That’s an Alliance storyline.)
