Hello all,
THIS IS NOT BAIT to start a fight about which people speak what language in what part of the world…don’t steer this conversation that way.
There are a lot of Spanish and Portuguese people in general on my server group (won’t say which, it’s an RP connected server) and they carry on and on for hours, basically holding their own private chat about what’s going on in the zone, forming groups, etc.
I find this annoying because there is PVP going on and I would like to join in, or be invited to their raid, or what have you.
I know there is no rule about US servers being English only, but what are your thoughts and opinions on this, and how would you handle it?
Edit: I know I could learn every language on the planet and also speak it with them, but that’s not really the point.

Learn Spanish or Portuguese if you want to know what they’re saying?

Put a lot of thought into that one didn’t you. <.<

Chat should somehow be translated to the game language you are using , would totally break the problem but would require a lot of time and effort to get just a few languages down and working .

Ich würde meine eigene Gruppe zusammenstellen und nur Deutsch sprechen.

My opinion is it’s no different than any private discord group or circle of friends or what have you talking and coordinating amongst themselves. They’re not bothering anyone, and the servers aren’t language based, just region based.
More power to them, imo. Hope they’re having a good time.

While I think that servers should be language-specific in order to preserve the second M in MMO, as it stands sometimes you just gotta pick whatever server is closest to you, regardless of majority language.
Play with a group of friends or guildies if you want to be guaranteed someone to talk to.
The solution to that is to put them on ignore. Then, you will not have to read their chat messages again. Otherwise, they are free to post as they wish.
The OP wants to be able to interact with them , maybe help them out , play with them and your solution is to put them on ignore hahahah you must be fun at parties

FF14 has a basic language communicator. You pick from a list of common phrases that have to do with the game and it translates them to the other person based on the language they speak.
WoW could use that…

That’s not how I interpret the OP’s post. I interpret it as trying to silence them and prevent them to speak in the language they prefer. Everything else is just excuses.

Yea, I thought of doing that actually but i have nothing against people who speak other languages, but if there’s PVP going on I usually jump in and it’s hard to know what in the world is going on is all, it’s purely a communication thing.
No one is saying they can’t post it.
@amelioratus - you are incorrect. I said I FIND IT ANNOYING due to communication, not because they’re simply speaking another language.
Is there an addon that can translate chat?
I mean he even said this isnt about language , did you read the post or just what you wanted to read 0.o
edit: i find myself in the same situation sometimes , idc where people are from or what they speak , im just too dumb to go and learn 2-3 extra language to be able to enjoy my time with said people even more .

Yes, I read the post. Not everything someone says is the truth.
The essence of the OPs post is this:
The OP is low key suggesting to ban non-english communication but is too scared to state it openly. Learn to read between the lines.

lol, you are 100% incorrect. That is such a crazy conclusion to draw from an obvious nuanced post that I made. It’s also pretty insulting.

Lol 5 , from someone that nitpicks a post to find something to argue about…

Oh, my, arguing on the forums based on reasoning derived from the OP post is so outlandish. I should’ve just posted memes instead.

I’m actually going to post something insightful here, rather than the usual dismissive snark and salt.
Any of you ever play Sea of Thieves??? Long story short, there are hot button commands that you can spam to your crewmates, and based on region, so I was told, it automatically translates them into the respective language. Or something.
I’m familiar enough with basic /macro commands like /oom, but do you think that they translate into whatever language the party member set their Wow client to?
I, the OP, am telling you that whatever nonsense you created in your lizard brain is wrong. So you can argue with yourself all you want, but that’s how it is.
