Operation Mechagon: KUJO Boss Bugged

Tried this boss around 7 times tonight with no luck. Recorded the bug in shadowplay.

After the 3rd or 4th crate drops, they stop dropping which leaves nothing for us to hide behind for venting flames.

We hear the boss saying “look out below” and nothing drops at all. It’s impossible to defeat this boss without a crate dropping.

Exact same issue for my alt group just now, with the only exception that the crates which did drop, did not create LoS for any abilities resulting in instant wipes 6/10 attempts

My group had the same problem where the crate was not causing LOS

I had an instance where a fresh crate was dropped, but it turned red before Kujo cast anything, so both crates were burning

I had the same issue and it made the fight imposible to finish. Two bugged things can happen. One the box simply does not drop making it and instant group kill. Since now the ability hits you everywhere in the room.

The other one is the boxes kind of overlap, making the first flame particularly tricky because the first explosion of the flames will break old box and because you are close knock you back, making you easier to be hit again by the ability.

Finally we tried different strategies to try and unstack the boxes including running out of the box and taking damage of the last explosion just to have the boxes spread appart. It sometimes work and sometimes didn’t. Eventually a box will fail to appear and it was a wipe.

I know the bug has always been there, but it wasn’t so game breaking a few days ago before you roll the patch making the boxes the only thing that breaks line of sight. Now since the patch is a complete roll of luck Everytime you start the fight because if a box fails or they keep on stacking very close next to the other it will end in wipe.

Hope this helps and a fix can be rolled soon. If you can’t allow us to lose line sight from the ability while you fix it. (Like it was before) so the group can react if a box misses falling and not end up in a wipe.

This is the worst type of bug. It’s the type of bug that’s only a problem after Blizzard implemented a “fix” that was to prevent people doing an untimed m0 run from “exploiting” the terrain of a boss room to evade a mechanic that is a 100% guaranteed wipe if the other bugs on the boss are making the intended mechanics unreliable.

There was no need, nor call to “fix” this bug while ignoring the much more serious issue of the intended mechanics failing consistently. In fact, in my first (and only successful) run through, the only time we “exploited” the line of sight offered by the terrain was when the boxes did not spawn as intended.

Revert this fight back to its state on Tuesday until you figure out something to fully fix the unreliable box spawns and the unreliable LoS provided by the boxes.

This was super frustrating because it killed a super fun run and made the whole thing negative for no reason at all. The way the fight was operating at the beginning of the week was fine, given the bugs that are still ongoing. Breaking the one beneficial bug while leaving all the detrimental bugs is NOT. NOT. NOT. the correct order of bug fixes.

I have to agree with this. Tonight we ran into two different bugs. The first was where the LOS was not working correctly, so people were getting hit by his fire, even though they were behind the box.
The second was the boxes not dropping at all, and because you “fixed” it so that we could not use the environment, we had no where to hide.

I can also confirm that this boss is now bugged at least for Hard Mode. I did it before the “fixes” and it worked fine. Then I tried it again on this toon last night and it was literally impossible to complete.

We ran into both the failed LoS and box not dropping (but mostly the LoS issue).

It might just be a coincidence but it seemed like the LoS issue would only happen when the old and new crates were close to one another (like new crate is clipping into the old crate) which happened very often due to the 80% slow. NOTE: We still made sure to LoS both the dog and the old crate but it would still seem like it would improperly remove the LoS from the new crate (which also wasn’t damaged at all).

Alrighty boys, looks like I figured it out. This boss is bugged. Here’s how to beat him.

Step 1:
Reset boss.
Step 2:
LOS appropriately, on the 5th tick - spread and heal the damage.
Step 3:
Pray.

Good luck boys.

step 4, have the box still not spawn, or lose dps to LoS not working even though you’re fully behind the box from the boss

step 5 have group collapse because a fight that’s bugged was made 10x harder because the workaround to the bug was removed before the bug was fixed.

step 6 wait for the fight to get fixed

step 7 have the same bugs crop up in a few months because Blizzard is terrible at permanently fixing non-beneficial bugs in instanced content.

Still bugged on both bugs.

beta for azeroth everyone. I swear blizzard doesn’t test hotfixes anymore.

This method works - after about 10 attempts, with it bugging out, this method works, after the 5th tick, all spread, take the hit heal up and the box will spawn.
