Opening talent trees with default N key opens up shorter spellbook

Kinda hoping this is not intentional.

50% of the time hitting the key to open up talent tree opens up the spellbook instead (presumably because the two are combined in one window now).

Was about to report it right now.
Still happening.
When you first open the Talent Window with N key, it opens the spell book instead.

But if you close and open again, it opens correctly the talent window until you relog.

A friend was having this issue and I wasn’t, so we both played around with it to try to find how to reproduce it (disabling all addons/UI reset did not so it isn’t an addon issue), and figured out it happens if you have ANYTHING else open when you hit ‘N’. Map, mailbox, character pane, profession window, whatever. If you do, it goes to small spellbook instead of talents.

If you close everything, it should work to go right to talents every time.

Still annoying I’m sure, still should probably be addressed, but if it’s making you crazy, that’s the key to getting the functionality to work right: close anything else in WoW you have open first.

I really dislike this, it violates UI principles and I hope they can do something to make it better.

This is still happening. Why have a different keybind for spellbook when the talent keybind opens the spellbook sometimes, but not other times. Very bad UI design. At least give us an option to make this not happen.

As has been stated months ago in this thread, it only does this when other UI elements are open which forces the half page spellbook to be opened to avoid closing those other UI elements. This will also work in reverse, in that if you open another half UI element, it will swap the talent page to the half spellbook rather than closing it entirely.

You can either close other ui elements before hand so it will open up the full book, or double tap N to force swap to the talent page from the half spellbook which will close those other elements.

Yeah, but as also stated several months ago, it sucks that it works this way and should be fixed.

This would be implicating it’s not intentionally working this way when it probably is.

When I want to see my talents I don’t care about my spellbook, if I want my spellbook I will open the spellbook. If I have other UI elements open and want to see my talents then obviously I WANT those other elements to go away.

what you WANT and what the developers intend aren’t always in alignment.

Obviously, but the developers should be aware that players do not WANT it.

QA doesn’t pass on feedback to the devs.

The UI crew ain’t the most talented bunch.

I really thought this was an addon of mine and just dealt with it for months, but tonight I got fed up and searched to see if I was alone.

Still not fixed. Still awful design. Fix this, I should never need to hit my “toggle talent pane” bind twice to make the talent pane toggle.
