Open world mobs power increased

Yea, I am in the middle of leveling 9 alts to 60 so I pretty much know exactly what the mob powers are when I am doing these leveling quests. Well, I logged out yesterday in the middle of one and within pulling two of the usual mobs and doing the same rotation I see I have lost a majority of health plus their health did not drop as far.

I know this by heart due to the fact I have been leveling the same classes and specs and can do the quests in my sleep. There was a power increase to mobs.

I knew they’d do this.

Retuning world mobs seems to be a thing they do now. You’re simply not allowed to ever overpower mobs, as the game director has repeatedly declared that doing so “is not fun”.

Even though it is.

is this to kill the ftp twink Boe farming I wonder?

But if he’s so smart and right then he should add that to classic. It would be so awesome with how much fun it is

I’ll go kill some of those mobs to see how it goes.

My personal opinion is that they’re trying to make questing harder because they think that

  1. New players actually want really hard content.
  2. It’s good for levelers and new players to be regularly crushed by mobs while leveling.

I often see mobs out in the world with new mechanics added to them, just like when they added cata-era heroic mechanics to bosses in Scarlet Halls normal and other vanilla dungeons.

If they think that’s what new players and levelers want, they’re more deluded than we already suspected.

They seem just as easy to kill today as they all did yesterday but thats just me I guess

I should have specified this is Shadowlands content that I am talking about. Not older expansions. They certainly did give mobs more power across the board. I can see it ever since I logged in and gained two levels on another alt to 58.

No need to re-tune anything when it comes to leveling following the quests. It is bad enough you barely ever get to see a rare or epic roll on a quest item for the whole 10 levels you do.

this also goes.hand in hand with reports of legacy raids being rescaled with the patch
I mean I guess when the end game sucks you gotta make getting there take longer? and same for MOG farming I guess

I’m just going off others’ reports - the only world mobs I’ve done are the ones around the Deathfang quest and they were fine - but then, I’m max level. I’ll take some of my waiting-for-flying alts out later and see how their experience is.

Yeah but if that happened, progression raiders would “feel forced to do it” or something along those lines, I guess

What they are really doing is removing the sand from the sandbox game, attempting to force players to play in a way that is most profitable for the company.

for the past two weeks I have been leveling my alt army of arms warriors from level 50 to 60, I follow the exact same questing route with every one. I am half way through the army, and today when I wanted to continue where I left off last night I immediately saw a difference with the first two mobs I pulled. This was not just a bad rng with damage, it has been consistently harder now since the patch went live.

If you say so I’m just speaking of my experience

They should just leave that stuff the same and make the mobs in the new zones more powerful instead. Really though, they were tougher back in vanilla.

Ftp twinks can only farm their own gear. They can’t buy, sell, or trade anything.

The people farming that gear are not ftp. And
I just killed some of those mobs. They feel no different.

Something else to add.

I can not kill Gorgebeak in Bastion at level 58 now after the patch.

My previous 5 alts that I ran through the leveling process were able to kill that NPC (barely) at level 58 but they could. Now, I can’t get it below 20% health.

People that are saying they see no difference need to keep in mind you are level 60 with a ton of your system(s) power in place so you are completely over powered for these mobs that are intended for players that are leveling and have garbage green gear at sub 60 level and have 0 system(s) power.

They started this silliness in Legion. Every patch, world mobs get scaled up to meet the new “season” gear. Not doing “seasons”? Too bad, it seems. The devs want the open world to be infinitely scalable and never outgearable, because supposedly that “isn’t fun” (spoiler: IT IS VERY DEFINITELY FUN, and is the entire point of an RPG).

Blizzard considers its ‘Open world mobs power increased’ technique one of the greatest features added to the original WoW. It has saved countless hours of development and money.

Yea, only problem is people that are leveling are using the garbage gear that they get from quests along the way. If Blizztard increased the power of that gear with the new season I could understand but they didn’t.

The gear quests are giving out along the way as you level from 50-60 are the same ilvl and stats as before the patch so how in the heall are they expecting leveling players to be more powerful.
