So I think season 1 and 2 you had to have raid gear or vault gear to use in catalyst for tier, but in 3 almost everything was useable to make tier like dreamsurge and time portal stuff.
Now we’re back to rewards from siege not being used in the catalyst, is this by design? Or did they really forget to update it since that’s how it was in season 1? If that’s the case it’s becoming very obvious how little thought they put into this season.
With so many things broken right now, I’d assume that this is an oversight/bug as well.
Time Rift and Dream Surge vendors can’t be interacted with, the TW quest reward scaling, Awakened LFR having the old item level requirement (so you’ll see people with 400 in there), the bonus chest inside the bonus chest for hunts/feasts/siege (that one benefits players at least), and so on.
Imo Heroic Dungeons should give 1/8 Veteran (basically one more bump up in ilevel) but hey that’s just me which isn’t even on par with Normal raid loot. At least people could casually queue for that and get gear to make tier with.

I thought the same, I’d happily queue all my tanks over and over to get people through heroics since it seems even with their boost you can basically still solo them with decent gear from last season.
But the gear being on the lower track is just ugh
Dreamsurge and time rift gear could only be turned into season 2 tiers during season 3.
Yeah they kind of screwed over the casuals by giving them this junk adventurer gear imo. The ilevel is at least useful I guess.
It was the same way in the PTR tbh.
Some are convertible like the coalesing essence ones but not the dreamsurge weekly.
You didn’t need to do dungeons or raids for catalyst gear. even in SL, we had Sandworn Relic gear for open world catalyst gear. M+ and raid gear was always better, but there’s always been an open world option, it just only accepts specific gear sets from the open world to make into tier.
In DF season 1 you could use the catalyst on the primal storm gear that you buy off the vendor in Valdrakken (but they would need to be upgraded first), or get from Forbidden Reach drops, or the vendor there.
In Season 2 you could use the catalyst on the gear from Suffusion camps, Time Rifts and Dreamsurges.
In Season 3 you could use the catalyst on the gear from weeklies in the emerald Dream
In all seasons you can use the catalyst on gear you get from world bosses. (which I think become fated just like raids do iirc, so you might be able to get some gear from there if you get lucky)
All I’ve done in season 4 was Primal Storms and dailies for the A World Awoken achievement, so idk what the new catalyst set is, and haven’t been able to find anything about it on Google, so maybe blizz just forgot? Or maybe the old sets are supposed to be useable again, and are bugged or something.
Yeah I would definitely like to be able to use the time rift and dreamsurge gear on the catalyst again this season. Makes no sense that timewalking dungeon gear works but those don’t.
