Open the portal to Outland. Keep level cap at 60

If blizzard did these 2 simple things I think it would dramatically increase SoDs population.

First: change name from WoW: Season of discovery to WoW: Discovery so people don’t think it’s just a temporary project.

Second: blizzard should announce that after Nax they plan to open the portal to Outland while keeping the level cap at 60 and tuning Outland content and gear for our level 60 characters.

Think about it, our characters are pretty much TBC/wrath characters already. Why would we need 10 more levels and a massive power increase for TBC? All that would do is make all era content irrelevant. Keeping the level cap to 60 would mean only minor item level increases. We’d be just coming out of nax so the first raid in Outland would only have a marginally higher item level than our nax gear which would mean we’d still want to clear nax every week along with the new raids.

The Devs wouldn’t even need to create new content. All they would have to do to adjust raid difficulty and itemization.

Who would stick around or consider playing SoD if blizzard had these plans?

This sounds like a fantastic idea! However, with five zones and a large number of quests in each, I’m curious about the purpose of questing in those zones. How would it work? Would all zones stay at level 60, or would there be level brackets—like Hellfire starting at level 50 and Shadowmoon Valley or Netherstorm being for levels 58-60?

For those of us already at level 60, what would motivate us to complete the quests? Would it primarily be for gold? While that’s not a bad way to earn gold, there are already plenty of ways to do that, so it wouldn’t feel like much of an incentive for me personally.

Again, I really love this concept! But if an SoD version of BC ever became a reality and we stayed at level 60, I’m a bit unclear on how the huge number of quests in those zones would fit into the experience. Other aspects, like dungeons and raids, are easier to align with a fixed level cap.

TBC was a phenomenal expansion with incredible raids, and I’d be thrilled to see its journey continue under SoD!

I guess for level 60s the incentive would be gold and rep rewards?

Like if you look at silithus right now. We are all level 60… yet we are doing the quests. And for what? BIS rep rewards.

Outlands without flying mounts? Hmm

On the XP front they could have it apply to unlocking extra talents, runes, gear, abilities etc., instead of gaining levels

Well they could still allow flying. I think they would have too as it would be way too much work and development to bring outland to ground mounts only.

Totally agree. Could really do awesome things for Discovery
