I am strongly in favor of all classes should be all races.
Lore wise it makes sense. Gameplay wise it obviously makes sense.
Common concerns are things like the Druid forms, or Shaman totems, Blizzard needing to create all these assets which is why Blizzard hasn’t done it yet.
And to that, I say just give every race a default Totem, or a basic Cat/Bear form.
Hell, unlock all Totems for all Races and let us choose. Why can’t I be a Tauren using Troll / Dwarf looking Totems?
Trolls: We’ve fought the Legion. We’ve fought the void alongside a Nauru and her agents. Fought the literal Devil. All we want to do is protect this world. Can we be Paladins? the “light”: Lol no.
If I could play a human Shaman I’d be all over it for sure.
Yes I’m that shallow, I need aesthetically pleasing models.
I just race changed a bunch of my toons, even changed my much loved troll hunter dude into a Belf female, and my long time Tauren Warrior just got neutered and is now a female Blood Elf.
But hey they look so much better now!
I almost changed my Undead Priest but I can’t do it, so I just rolled another one that’s pretty.
It’s bizarre to me that how my character looks can greatly influence my desire to play it.
Thankfully, it seems Blizzard is leaning towards this position as well. It’s just a matter of time since some classes (druids, paladins, and shaman) require developing art assets and will just take a little more time to add.
I look forward to making a Mechagnome Druid with mechanical animal forms, a Nightborne Shaman, and a Forsaken Paladin.
EDIT: I’m on the fence in regards to Evokers and Demon Hunters.
Night Elf shamans… long overdue - why a race that is so connected to nature can’t wield one of its aspects? And by now they could learn Shamanism by 3 different races.
Vol’jin died fighting the Legion. That was a big lore story. What do you mean “my headcanon”. This is true for hundreds of thousands of Horde warriors.
No Order of Paladinhood is rooted particularly to fighting the Legion though. All of them united during Legion to fight them though, long after their establishments.
Pandaren warlocks, locked away for 1000s of years and had no exposure to fel, and the pandaren on the turtle may believe it was simply to dangerious or unpredictable.
Dark spear troll paladins, the darkspear dont have a loa that strongly represents light like razan, but vol jin could possibly fix that.
Warlock tauren, they know the twisting nether is an offense to the elements and represents a destructive side to what is natural.
Druid orcs, they dont any strong ties to nature in their culture but rather have a culture of nature harvesting to the point of harming nature.
Paladin orcs, they dont worship the light or any light oriented entitiy to the point where they embody light to that level of intimacy.
Anything demon hunter, it is a elven practice but trolls has a similar history of embedding demons inside them. It also makes no sense for anyone to take the pledge of a dark demon hurting cult when the purpose they represent is currently at bay.
Druid Blood elves, Blood elves, high elves are defined by rejecting nature magic except hunting and embracing arcane to the point of mutation resulting in smaller bodies while the night elves chose elune.
Been on this band wagon for years. Never understood the locking of race/class combinations.
People try to apply logical theory/ideas to a fantasy world of why x race can’t be x class.
I personally really like how armor looks on male worgen, sucks for so long that they couldn’t be monks because of this stuff.
