This right here is the best response on the thread

*So after skimming this thread with 2K replies is people either all for it, or vehemently against it with no discernible reason as to why they are against layers. “bUt MuH eCoNoMY” The economy is already 10 kinds of ridiculous (atleast on whitemane). Tanking the price of over-inflated items is not a bad thing. *
*The world pvp!?!?!?! Will be exactly the same as it currently is. Stupid ganking and griefing with the occasional decent fight. *
*As it stands currently, I dont know a single guild who is dealing/coping well with the 2-8 hour ques on Whitemane at the moment. The game as it sits currently is almost completely unplayable for the average person in a normal capacity on our server. Even the hardcore #nochangesnolayers guys in my guild are like…alright enough is enough they need to do something about this. No one wants to login 10 hours before a 1-2 hour raid in order to hangout with their friends and have a good time for a little bit. Even worse, the most hard-core players are being affected in a game-ruining way. Eg: Your two main tanks DC due to unrelated normal issues, and get bumped into a 7 hour que 20 minutes before raid. I honestly looked for what the downside of layering would be, and the best I see anyone argue against layering is the component of it in world pvp. Thats an EXTREMELY small price to pay for the ability to have fun in the entire rest of the game/community/guild content. *

Yeah what a joke, paying to look at a login screen for 6 hours is NOT good enough.

These are people who have either heard someone else say this or are jumping to a conclusion without thought or doing any research.
Blizzard,
With the insane amount of people self isolating at home, you NEED to do something. Please bring back layering!
It is simply unacceptable to be on a server which hasn’t had queue times since a month into the classic launch, to suddenly have 4-5 hour queues every night. It’s RIDICULOUS!
You are destroying the one thing classic has going for it! The community’s! Guilds cant even raid together as half of them are stuck in the queue. Being forced to logon at 3pm, just so you can raid at 8pm is a complete joke.
Please fix this mess!

Arugal is currently at a 6 hour queue at 5PM on a weekday. It’s time to implement layering. Right now.
For everyone who is claiming that layering will ruin classic, not being able to play at all is far worse.
It doesn’t matter if Blizzard should have done this, or done that earlier. WE ARE WHERE WE ARE.
We need layering, and we need it now.

can you just hurry the f up and fix this?

Thank you for asking, Kaivax. I would be perfectly happy with two layers while we are going through this. As the first reply said, it’s a temporary fix for a temporary problem.

Kaivax. My server (Arugal) has me in a 5 hour queue. FIVE. HOURS. You’re talking about ONE hour hypothetical queues when we’re already at 5x that. Please STOP asking hypotheticals of people who are not even in this situation yet, and actually do something about our queues which are, without a lick of hyperbole, making the game unplayable RIGHT NOW.
Just to paint a nice clear picture, if I get home at 5pm local time and try to log in, I get to the character screen at 10-11pm. You know, the time when the average working person is already in bed and even the night owls are starting to wind down. It’s crazy how far behind the eight ball you are right now, asking people to umm and ahh about what they might like if they had a one hour queue. You’re getting replies from people who currently have ZERO queue at peak time, and to be completely honest, they should not have any say in what happens on the server I play on.

Every other game has added to their server capacity during covid 19 but blizzard. I strongly recommend you guys get off your butts and do something because from day 1 this game has been setback after setback. over 10 years of it being out and re-releasing it with the same bugs where you get feared through the ground… only starting with 2 or 3 servers was another joke. But having to wait 5 hours to play a game is beyond a joke. Layering can fix it now for everyone to play again and is 100% great. But if you guys at blizzard want my subscription and im sure alot of others to continue, you better get your thumbs out of your butts and put them back on the keyboards (after you wash those hands) and make this game how it should be after re-releasing after 10+years it should be perfect. The time to do something about this issue is now.

The same people that are complaining about lag also want server capacity increased.
You need to understand that by increasing player capacity this also increases lag in highly populated zones.
so? a little bit of lag or a 8 hour que? I know what i’d choose.

What i’m saying, is that option of increased server capacity isn’t a very good one and Blizzard will likely choose to avoid the option that will result in server instability.
Layering is still so far the best option to go with in result of reducing queue times.
Layering is easily exploited and framed and everyone will definitely be taking advantage of that…particularly bots and foreign farmers. They already control black Lotus on all the servers and are looking for an excuse to increase their numbers. Why can’t you just open more servers like every other game does?

My Alts guild has already disbanded because the queue times making an already strained raid roster not even have enough for ZG because half the raid cant log in before 10-11pm.
Hurry up your actually starting to play with peoples friendships now with them not being able to log in…
This has been explained multiple times as to why it is a terrible idea. If you didn’t understand it the first time, scroll up and read it a couple more times.
Opening more servers is not the solution. Your Black Lotus prices are of no concern to the literal thousands of players who can’t even play the game because of 6+hr queues.

Servers are permanent. Pandemics are temporary.
After the Pandemic fades you end up with extra servers and a lot less people playing as regularly as they are right now, leaving some servers player base to fade.
Layering, for godsakes, layering

Currently have several hours of queuing and logout-babysitting per day. This is getting to be too much of a pain and if some solution (layering or otherwise) isn’t found soon I’ll be forced to cancel my subscription.
