Open in Low Resolution

I just installed WoW on a new Mac Mini, M1 chip running Monterey 12.2.1.
My previous system was a hackintosh running Big Sur.

It seems Monterey doesn’t have the check box under “Get Info” that toggles low resolution mode.

Any idea where is went or how to set this option?

AFAIK it isn’t available on an M1 Mac. The better option anyway is to set the game to native resolution (matching the desktop) and setting the game’s render scale to 50%. The newly introduced AMD FSR feature will take care of the rest, and it’s enabled by default. It only activates itself if the render scale is below 100%, and unlike on the PC side, has remarkably little loss in quality under macOS.

That didn’t do exactly what I wanted.

I did change this flag in package > contents > info.plist - the default is true. I changed it to false.

NSHighResolutionCapable

Now I can switch back and forth between full screen and window mode like I used to.

In regards to NSHighResolutionCapable

Any chance we can get a toggle for this in the Graphics settings?

I can’t play in window mode if this is set to true. I tried various combinations of resolution and scaling. The results were always the same. When the window is big enough to be playable, the frame rate would be choppy. If the frame rate is smooth, the window is to too small.

When I change NSHighResolutionCapable to false, both window and full screen work great.

The NSHighResolutionCapable function is what allows WoW to work properly on Retina display resolutions. It’s possible there is an interaction with your display and/or the resolution you’re using. Could you provide the display make/model and the exact resolution you’re using as listed in the Displays prefpane? That would be useful for diagnosing the issue.
