Open all the portals for alts (to get to raids)

Annoying when I can’t just take alts to places like Eternal Palace, or Sepulcher Of The First Ones because they don’t have the portal thing to get to the raid. I know there was some “quest chain” but I aint gonna go through that on all my toons, PLUS to be honest I don’t even see any quest/remember how or where to even do the quest chain

JUST OPEN UP THE WORLD. If 1 of our toons did the quest to unlock it, just let ALL our toons go there! PORTALS PLEASE!

Not a terrible idea.

It would make it easier. I have to use my dungeon portals to get to some places because of this and that sucks because its an 8 hour cooldown. It was pretty cool seeing a bunch of people on the boat to booty bay though

To get to Sepulcher, just make your alt an engineer and learn shadowlands engineering, then you can use the shadowlands wormhole to get to zerith mortis without doing any quest lines.

This does only work if you’ve gotten the zeroth mortis portal item from the paragon chest of the zereth mortis rep on your main one time.

Yes please

It sucks redoing BFA and nazj intro on every character

Shadowlands is definitely one of the worst.

IRC if you don’t do certain parts of the campaign, you can’t access the Sanctum raid. You can’t even go into the Maw in the first place.

lmao.

This really just applies to Shadowlands (Zerith Mortis / Sepulcher) and BfA (Nazjatar and Ny’aloltha).
(Technically Sanctum in Shadowlands as well, but you can eat the fear damage and slowly work your way there at this point without unlocking the area)

Seeing as how it’s such a small set of instances where this is a problem…

Yeah.

Just auto-unlock those portals and phases. Farming old content should not involve doing somewhat lengthy questlines 8 years after their relevance. This game doesn’t do attunements anymore, hasn’t for like 15+ years, and yet these quest chains essentially serve as attunements because Blizzard just assumed everyone would have done them at least once.

Which was true while it was current, but no longer is, since it’s so old.

Yep. It’s one of my long peeves with wow - if you unlocked any kind of transition into content or portal (easy example from horde pov when you build a new character the need to do BFA intro so you can get into undercity) just make it unlocked account wide. It’s very corny to have to redo it on each alt.

And if one wants to say but the intro is fast and easy - it’s my opinion that only makes it more corny they make you do it each time.

Thankfully, the SL raids are easily accessed with the three campaign skips that allow you to go from “literally just talked to Mograine” to the end of the Pocopoc quest in 90 seconds plus load time.

It’s only BfA that really becomes a headache, since Vale only changes over for Ny’alotha once you complete the quest in Kun Lai summit, which is awful.

This really should be part of the whole “legacy” content conversion they do. At the very least put in a skip to get to all the late expansion zones. No one wants to do that for the upteenth time just to run an alt thru it.

Isn’t one one of the SL skips no longer available if you didn’t play during SL/DF? The threads of fate one.

Edit: nevermind me, seems that was only partially removed. Strange.

Efit 2: actually does appear to be broken for more people now. Thread: Can't skip Shadowlands campaign storylines

Edit 3: more digging. Can’t link specific instances because it’s scattershot but it looks like there might?? Be a different skip for SL now?? So confusing.

A ton of these are easy on alts.

SL campaign skip is on the attendant you talk to when turning in ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’ the very first auto-quest. Anything mentioning Threads of Fate is outdated info.

SancDom: jump in the hole, talk to Ve’nari, transfer stygia from another character to buy Animaflow Stabilizer. Port to Desmotaeron open.

Sepulcher: talk to the attendant behind the table where you pick a covenant, skip to ZM.

Nazjatar: talk to Nathanos/Genn to start ‘Send the Fleet’, talk to one other person and you’re there, skip every quest unless you want to establish the portal back for some reason.

Argus: Talk to Khadgar at the Citadel, talk to Khadgar on the flight landing and skip Broken Shore, talk to Khadgar down on the ground, fly up to Dalaran and talk to Khadgar again, then go talk to Velen.

The real issue with most of these isn’t that a lengthy quest chain is required. It’s finding where tf the skip was hidden. And of course if you never did the quests in the first place then you can’t skip without getting summoned.

I thought it was so much more involved than this, my alt army rejoices, thank you!!

I can’t even get alts to Castle Nathria because I don’t even have a flightmaster in Oribos lol

They messed up the campaign skip a while back, even if you finished it already it gets really messy.

Twinks also get affected by this, but that’s a different story.

lmao.

I hate how the lock and phase 50% of the world. They need to update the world so it’s completely open and in the same timezone. Pre-Cata there was nothing stopping a level 1 from running to Light’s Hope for example, sure you would get killed a bunch by mobs on the way, but you could go there. Now there is always some lock, or some weird phasing thing, or some arbitrary level restriction on a portal (at least instance level restrictions made a little sense). I thought attunements were removed in Wrath (and even then, besides Black Temple’s, those weren’t as annoying)

They fixed up the skip, you should be able to talk to the Honored Voice (i think, just talk to everyone in the middle room) as soon as you complete the Maw Intro or the skip for it (starts at Mograine in your faction capital).
