Oondasta taming

I remember this. Lost my tame because of that and it took me a year to get him after that incident.

I think you misunderstood.

I didn’t mean unique as in “I’ll be the only one to have this.” I meant unique, “pops”, or “stands out”, in comparison to most pets in general. Oondasta is unique in that he’s the only Devilsaur like him. It’s not about what other hunters have, it’s about Oondasta being a unique skin on it’s own. It’s like collecting

It’s not about making a statement to other players. It’s about wanting something that is, itself, a unique skin. While there are some hunters who’ll use a plague lands wolf just to be different, that’s not necessarily the most common.

TL;DR

I didn’t mean legitimately dissimilar to what other hunters are doing. I meant that it stands out compared to my other pets to me. It’s unique compared to my other pets to me. What the rest of you think of it doesn’t factor in whether I want it.

I got her. I have all three rare cats. That one, Skarr and Sambas.

it’s easy to point the finger at hunters. but the spotlight should really be on some of the incompetent people that are on this development team.

A favorite of mine for my Hunter the unique looking Devilsaur
Thok the Bloodthirsty which can be tamed from the Siege of Orgrimmar raid.

I am not ashamed to be one of those Hunters who tamed Oondasta. Got him a month ago, and he is my main. Even solo’d ToT to get Horridon, and both look “at home” in Zandalar. Luckily, Oondasta spawns every 15 minutes, so that made me feel less guilty. I made sure to apologize to everyone around me with /sorry (and I did mean it).

I did see a dead devilsaur in Oondasta armor lying near the Blood Gate in Zuldazar, but it is part of the scenery.

EDIT: I also made sure to say in General Chat that I was wanting to tame him, but of course it would only have been seen by other Horde players. Some people even /w me to give me tips on how to tame him, so at least some people were happy to give me the opportunity.

When I more actively played a hunter I had plenty of people just walk up and kill my rare tames. It was incredibly frustrating! Half the time it wasn’t even an important rare! I just like taming anything with a silver border.

Anywho. Because of this I have little sympathy for mount the Oondasta situation.

I do this now too, especially on really long timers like spirit beasts from Northrend, etc. You want to take mount kill chances from us hunters? We will take your spirit beasts. I get the gryphon from SW for fun now too every time i see its feather. Ill spawn it…call it out, then kill. Then collect the beasts tears, and the hunters.

We didn’t start this war but if you want rare pets, youll leave the ones that drop mounts alone hunters.

A rare Oondasta would be so much more fun. I love the hunt for rare pets. My stable only has pets (except for a couple with sentimental value) that are a challenge to tame.

Make Oondasta untamable, put in a rare version with the same skin and slap a long spawn timer on it. Let the game begin :smiling_imp:

Because it’s rare, and when every hunter has a rare pet, no one does

Though imagine choosing oondasta over thok :nauseated_face::nauseated_face: :nauseated_face::nauseated_face:

Tamed it first week it was available.

Must be really different on some servers. Every time I go out to dinosaur island Oondasta is up. Doesn’t matter what toon I take or when, he’s up about every 15 minutes.

Maybe you should just try going out there at a time you usually wouldn’t?

If it’s the same hunter…as in “a” hunter…then that hunter is a griefing posterior fedora and should be reported for it.

Yes, I have that pet, yes I rode up with 1 minute left to go on the spawn timer and rode way with Oon in tow 1 minute and 15 seconds later. And yes, there was some angry gesturing going on as I rode away…but I am never going back and wouldn’t go grief-tame out of some tit for tat BS.

Standard practice. Rare tames are often part of a quest, or drop unique loot. If it’s up, I’m killing it. Even the one’s that aren’t I’m probably still killing it. The whole game is about killing monsters and collecting loots.

That’s why I play in Warmode.

Just be grateful that pet deaths are meaningless now too. I used to always kill hunter pets first before killing the hunter just to give them extra chores.

Well, Oon fits perfectly with my Zandalari hunter - so there’s that.

No different than hunters have already been treated for almost FIFTEEN YEARS.

Challenge accepted. And yes, yes you (collective “you” here, not you personally) actually did start it. People have been blowing up hunter rare tames since they came into existence.

It is because I wouldn’t go out of my way to kill a mob a hunter was camping before, I might now though.

I think the devs screwed up with this one. People are still killing Oon (or trying to) because the mount is a rare drop and rng is rng. When they decided to make it tameable they should have upped the mount drop to 100%, announced it before the change went live, and given mount collectors a few months to get it. After that FFA and good luck to all. They seem to enjoy pitting players against each other. :woman_shrugging:

I speak for Us as the mount farmers that left you hunters alone to tame your rares, and even helped call it out for you. You took the blow against us by taking our Oondasta kills, so we will take your kills.

When that poor kid wanting his spirit bear gets a paladin swooping in, one shotting it, and then yelling “Yolo” before flying off now…you are to blame. Not you you, but hunters in general.
