Ooming out too early as a mw? (and other mw destro questions)

Hi guys,

I’ve been playing mw destro with my friend in 2s and I seem to have a few issues… would appreciate any advice on them:

  1. I almost always oom before the enemy healer - I feel like i burn way too much mana healing and when we start moving into dampening I end up going oom and losing us the game. I tend to keep even or outheal the enemy healer each time but their mana is always extremely well maintained while mine slowly burns over the fight. (Yes i do use tea before i crane)

  2. How do i deal with rdruid? They feel very stifling. If i chase them for a para sweep they bash clone me after. If i don’t chase them they stealth and rake me. I feel like if i pop crane they pillar kite so i can’t get full value out of it.

  3. How do we deal with warriors? It seems like every warrior always claps my destro friend and i end up losing because i can’t outheal the pressure.

  4. What kind of style should i be aiming for? Super aggressive early go’s with crane?

my armory btw

Honestly, I would play ww over mw. Mw is like almost lowest tier in 2’s. Rdruid will always get away for drinks. Try ww with like an hpal or rdruid and you should have more success. Good luck friend

I’m not too sure what talents you are changing but lately I’ve been using Lifecycles instead of mana tea, as you hardly ever choose way of the crane. As for neck essences the ones that restore mana are bis especially when playing with a destro lock as you won’t need the versa from conflict because you wont be getting trained. Make sure you have oceanic restoration on your weapon also. Ring of peace/disarm/incap/stun on cd is also nice to give your lock a bit of breathing room. Also try to communicate with your warlock when you want to drink. Drinking at little to no dampening is always good as it prepares you for the high dampening stages where you wont be able to drink as much.

So far for essences i’ve been going conflict and strife main with seed as a secondary, 3k AP off of my second secondary. So you’re saying i should be going lucid dreams? I have noticed crane is not at all what it used to be in s1.

Also i’ve never changed the talents i’m currently running, but lifecycles doesn’t sound half bad. I do tend to use a lot of viv and enveloping mist in tandem.

Are you online? i could give you some tips

ya i am now, whats ur btag

For me I found Lifecylces to be more mana efficient than mana tea. I’m glad another monk perfers this as well since most top monks are still on using mana tea and made me question myself on it a bit.

For max mana conservation, I run Memory of Lucid Dreams - Major, Life-Binders Invocation - Minor, and Ever Rising Tide - Minor. I pretty much use Lucid Dream immediately after I burn about 10% mana and off CD after. This usually keeps me on par or better with the other healers mana outside of maybe HPal.

For 2s though, I actually run Crucible - Major, Lucid - Minor, and Invocation - Minor. (I’ll swap strife in there if I’m going to get sat on) Without crane, monk’s offensive ability is pretty weak compared to other healers so Crucible helps a bit with that and I then add Cyclo trinket. Matches are shorter anyway with faster dampening so I find the extra pressure is worth it for me.

This. I also like to run refreshing breeze pvp talent this really does well healing your team since it heals anyone with renewing on them and even if its on 2 of 3 you can heal the non renewed target and it heals everyone in the arena and for 20% more so its great), lifecycles or mana tea depending on if your facing something that needs sustained or burst healing. Anything with burst i still run tea to offset throwing out double enveloping’s and vivifys even though the extra global sucks. Always keep up renwing on targets and literally anytime your going to vivify and thunder focus tea is available hit it so there free. That plus using the mentioned essences Rex said should keep you steller.

Whenever i run conflict major i almost never use wotc, and if im not using the essence i never select it because the healing is so bad, it puts you in a bad spot and its not worth a 1/4 of your mana bar to break a root.

Im not sure if you have burst of life azerite trait but at least one of those and always running chrysalis is the way to go then you can throw out cocoon when your gonna be forced to eat cc and keep things fine rather then using it as an oh $hit button.

MW at this current time is literally a 40 yard pve healer who almost soley is using utility as interrupts or as kiting tools to go pillar to pillar. Sad compared to the powerhouses they were in S1.

Yeah i definitely feel the difference from S1. S1 mw i felt like a freaking god amongst men when i popped crane, could straight up clap someone 100-0… I’m having a hard time really figuring out our role but this is pretty helpful. Original helped me out a bit, I see mw definitely wants to prio throughput and not ooming as opposed to just straight rushdown
