Hey Demon Hunters,
I’ve mained a Retribution Paladin since TBC. Demon Hunters always seemed really cool to me but there’s been 1 thing stopping me from actually playing one: healing back up when no enemies are around.
You see, I’ve grown used to the ability to heal myself whenever I want before returning to combat. After I beat my Warrior friend in a duel for instance, I can heal both of us back up and duel again right away. How do you guys deal with such a situation? Do you still carry food around? Would hate to play a class that still needs reagents to play effectively. The thought of getting caught out in the open world with low health when my food has run out doesn’t sound fun to me, but the general idea of playing a Demon Hunter does. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
What advice do you want? They have no casted heals. You either heal enough off of the mobs you’ve killed or you don’t. Havoc is one of the best open world classes there is for farming mobs/quests. If you die, quite frankly you did something stupid.

Firstly, as far as 1v1 duels go, if it’s in a low level area, food is your only option outside of asking for heals. If you’re in a higher area where mobs give xp, you heal 20% of your life per kill.
Second, outside of dueling, both the DH specs are healing machines. Between 25%+ leech, healing soul fragments, some pretty stupid cooldowns, and perhaps the best mobility in the game, it’s literally never a problem outside of raid mechanics and 20 man world bosses.
As far as the open world with low health comment… I’ve been at 15-20% health and had people attempt to gank me and by the time they’re dead my life is full. No, you will never 1v1 like a Ret Paladin or the 1 or 2 guys who are actually good at Feral, most everything else is not really an issue if you use your cooldowns effectively.
Thanks for the replies! That answered my question
