what I’m wonder is if these two quest chains are possible on a lvl 80 hunter? he’s a bit undergeared too, but so far has survived questlines like the fallen hero and whatnot. I know raids are a part, but is it possible to solo?
Never got the chance to do these months ago, and with cata around the corner, I want to get this done soon. Sure, i could just play classic era, but, chances are once i get a lvl 60 in classic era, it’ll be hard to find groups for this.

I suspected so, darn it. Worth asking.
I mean you can easily do Onyxia attunement but the SotSS quest line will be very hard to do especially so if you’re under geared. This is mainly because you need to go to Blackwing Lair to kill Neferian and simply getting past Razorgore solo (the first boss) is almost impossible, let alone Vaelastrasz and if you can’t get the red gem you can’t get the sceptre.
Which is why if you had ~2 more people with you then you can get it quite comfortably.

You can on a blood dk solo the green, you need some help with the red think 1kg tip should help you, the blue is very soloable. Just need money and some people to help with page 1. I would say do blue the recipie might be worth something.
Is the questline even still available?
Scepter of the Shifting Sands is still available until Cata, and you get a Feat of Strength for doing it before its removal. Onyxia attunement was supposed to be gone with pre-patch (like original) but I heard it stuck around for some reason? Mixed messages.

If you’re doing it with few people make sure they’re geared DPS. Vaelastrasz is extremely difficult for small groups by design.

You will need at least 3. The first boss in AQ40 is bugged, unless you can straight overpower him with more people you are limited to 11 trash mobs you can grind for 1100 reputation with Brood. You might be able to solo those trash but they aren’t super easy. Doing that 10x would get your limit at 11k rep. You need roughly like 42k rep to get to neutral.
Then starts the tricky part… you need to kill the Broodlasher in BWL, so 3 people minimum to get by 1st boss mechanics and 2nd boss.
It doesn’t get easier…bunch of elite trash and stuff to do but all soloable. the nightmare corruptor in duskwood might be really hard for a hunter since with your pet he will probably just MC you.
Dr. Weavil for his book is not soloable as he will MC you for 2 minutes. Needs a few people.
Other then that you then need an Onyxia kill to loot a book (not sure if it goes to you as the quest person or if it becomes free roll) she is lvl 80 now so you need an actual WOTLK pug raid.
Ragnaros is a little easier but maybe not quite soloable.
You will need to return to BWL and get past the first 3 or 4 bosses to get a book.
Lastly, the stupid shark Maws is probably not soloable yet.
Everything else I was able to solo.
Talk to the NPC and you can do the 60 version.
