So I was questing near onyxia’s lair and decided to go and see what would happen when I tried to enter the instance. To no surprise it told me I wasn’t a high enough level to enter, but what was surprising was when it said I had to be level 50.
So my question is now this, is it possible to complete the attunement and enter onyxia’s lair at level 50?
Bonus question: If you can fight onyxia at level 50, do you thing a raid of level 50s could defeat her?
yes, we’re on the nerfed burning crusade patch. she can be 10 manned easily at 60.
she was 3 manned by naxx geared trio at 60 back in the day

Not sure if you’d be high enough for quest eligibility at 50. I know I couldn’t pick up the MC attunement quest until 55.
I do not think a raid of 50s could kill Onyxia. Your tank would die instantly and your dps would largely be smacking her for 10 damage a hit with the way offensive/defense skills work vs higher level mobs.
tank would have to be atleast level 58 or 59 and healers could be like maybe 55 , dps would have to be 57 or 58.
Did quests around there too, used to be almost all elites now they are majority regular mobs.
i noticed that too- thought i was misremembering. they used to be elites around her lair, didnt they?
this is the vanilla patch where blizz removed the difficulty from the game , so yes elites are not only gone they are nerfed
You could get around this with Hunters. Ranged attacks don’t glance, so they don’t lose as much dps vs higher level targets.
You cannot get attuned to Ony at 50, the quest chain requires level 55.
you can start it as low as 48-49 IIRC.
No matter how many times you repeat this lie about the “nerfed burning crusade patch” it doesn’t make it true.
The Crumpled Note drops at lvl50, all steps after are set to that level as well.

Warlord’s Command requires 55 and starts the horde chain, would be odd if Alliance can get attuned at 50 but Horde have to wait til 55.
Anyone know the level req to enter the raid on retail? It might be an overlooked tooltip from the modern engine.

You can’t get her chain until 52 I believe? Not sure what other quests in the chain require clvl.

Oddity is the name of the game with Vanilla. You can do the dragonkin quest that’s the breadcrumb for it as early as lvl48 as Alliance. You still need lvl50 to get the item drop but that’s the only level requirement outside of the fact that a full 5man of lvl50’s would be hurting badly to complete Jailbreak.
