Hi all, I have a mystery for you. This all started when my key fob authenticator died. I disconnected the fob and started using the mobile app to authenticate.
Since this time, I will randomly get disconnected, with either error ids WOW51900319 or BLZ51901016 (the latter will also interrupt my local internet connection for a few seconds). There is no clear pattern to the time played, frequency per day, or error generated. When I attempt to log back in, it will say “Connecting”, then the screen animation will freeze, then the animation will restart with “Connecting”. It will hold like this for a few seconds before returning either error again. This will happen about 2-3 times before loading the realms.
I have thus far researched this extensively in the WoW forums and tech support articles. I have done following: winsock reset, flush dns cache, renewed ip, reset modem, reinstalled windows (yep!), gotten a new computer (also true!), and reinstalled bnet multiple times (completely removing the files from ProgramData as well). Having done these steps multiple times in order to narrow the issue (excepting reinstalling windows [once], buying new comp [also once]), the one thing that seems to matter most is Bnet app install.
Everytime I reinstall Bnet, the disconnects stop for a couple of days. Without fail, within 2-3 days I get a notice that my login session has expired (I have “keep me logged in” checked). After I log back in, the disconnect issues start again. I cannot help but think there is some error regarding my authentication. I can only reset modems, flush and renew so many times within the bounds of reason. And reinstalling Bnet every 2-3 days is tedious indeed. I’m open to ideas.
I should also note something that may or may not matter: when the error occurs and I’m put back in the log in screen in the WoW app (not Bnet), if I attempt to hit reconnect then and enter my password, it gives me the old prompt for the Authenticator key (which I can no longer provide).
All the best,
Nechta
