But it wasn’t as good as MoP or Wrath, in my opinion. It was better than Cata by far, and probably better than TBC, but it’s not the Golden Apple people like to wistfully remember it as.
Have you mathed out what level you need to average across all dungeons for that? I haven’t gotten around to checking how taz changes the ratings.
nothing is as good as classic up thru Mists, imo. I could stand legion more than those other three, is all. It had some interesting story to it and it after doing the garrison stuff once I was about to quit, lol. Legion was a break from that when I got into the expansion. I thought they learned lessons from WoD, and apparently they did to some degree, but not enough lessons, I suppose, since they doubled down on some of the more garbage content (brainless systems and currencies) instead of going in some other direction.
I use the companion app for the mission table. Hasn’t been working since 9.2 though.
I would like it to be at least a year or more. Ideally 9.2.5 comes sooner rather than later with a renown 80 token.
Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong, I still feel Legion was a great expansion and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hell, I’d definitely rank it in the top 3 of game experiences, after Wrath and MoP.
But like you said, it’s where they began doubling down on some of the most boneheaded stuff from WoD and began the patterns we so dislike in modern WoW. This isn’t a movie franchise, so you need to take those into account, since it’s not like it wasn’t the same people responsible for BFA and SL.
Legion was pretty great once they fixed legendary acquisition. The system they had in the first raid tier was completely bonked. A random chance to get a random legendary, and you were effectively capped at getting two legendaries. I remember a lot of people getting bad legendaries and starting a whole new character in early legion. Once the 2 legendary cap was removed it was ok. The buying system they put in during ToS is probably what it should have been the whole time.
Hoo boy, yeah, I remember seeing all the threads, discord discussions and trade chat tirades about how people were re-rolling just for a better shot at their legendaries.
For real, Legion just had that old-school “Blizzard polish” to it that reminds me of Vanilla/TBC… it’s hard to explain
Maybe it started out with some issues, but it just got better and better. And my goodness, there was a new patch right around every 6 months - if we count the .5 updates as “patches” it felt like a new patch every 3 months
It was the first time I heard the forums/streamers say “wtf Blizz there’s TOO MUCH to do” in quite some time
I’m pretty sure there is no way they are getting the next expansion out this year unless they rush the hell out of it and none of us want that.
If you get tired of 9.2 you can go back and revisit old stuff or play something else for a while.
Aww I liked cata ![]()
Come on, before WoD, it was commonly considered “the worst expansion”.
Now after WoD, BFA and SL, it’s vindicated by history and is now solid middle of the pack!
I started in wrath so it was my first xpack. Thought it was pretty solid overall, except deathwings death. That part sucked
Well I won’t be playing beyond late March, but that’s just me. For me, WotLK through MoP was peak WoW and everything after that has ranged from kind of disappointing to really not fun at all. And I don’t see the changes in leadership necessary to bring the game back, so here we are.
And yes, I liked MUCH of Cataclysm. Sue me.
I came back for a month to look at 9.2 and mess about a bit, but there are other games that are just far more fun than this one now. It’s a bit sad, but unless the game is once again designed by people who understand the fun of just flying around in the world doing this and that? I’m not interested.
Oh the nightmares of 10 man is equal to 25 man change for cata. 25 man guilds breaking up into 10 mans at the end up WOTLK, and then being stomped into the dirt by 10 man bosses because blizz completely borked tuning 25man mechanics down to a 10 man raid comp.
The debacle of launch dungeon tuning.
That’s pretty impressive. To do the main story, then all four of the covenant campaigns, then the korthia campaign then the ZM campaign all in two months is quite impressive. I had a ton of fun doing all the campaigns, finding out about connections to old lore and powering up my characters.
Now I am fully enjoying ZM, the storyline is interesting and its fun that its more difficult - adds tension to moving around the zone.
I remember that happening all the way to the end of MoP, flex mode, where certain bosses would be harder or easier depending on the mode you went into.
Come to think of it, blizz has messed up a lot of beginnings to expansions pretty badly. In WOTLK the first raid tier was considered way to easy by basically everyone. PUGS of level capped people were clearing the raids before most guilds had their whole raid team level capped. Cata they messed up the 10 mans real bad. MoP I think I remember being mostly fine, the rep grinding for the legendary was a bit silly. All of WoD was a disaster. Legion they scrwed up the legendaries badly, BFA had azerite armor making everyone miserable grinding out the ability to use the same bonus on higher level gear. Thant brings us to SL.
MoP had Dailygate, though the irony is, in hindsight, we’d probably accept that back instead of some of the stuff we had to suffer through.
WoD had a pretty smooth launch, if memory serves, which is again ironic seeing what a dumpster fire it became.
