Looks like good adaptation. Adventurous show.
Can we get Western Pretty Cure, Higurashi When They Cry, Sailor Moon and Umineko When They Cry Animated Shows(done in the Anime-esque Artstyle specifically?)?
Can we also get more Zelda and Mario Cartoons with each one being a continuation of the specific Game they are adapting?
Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario(not taking place in the Paper World but having the Writer of the Paper Mario World writing the adventures going on in the Paper Mario Book), Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door(also not taking place in the Paper Mario World), Luigi’s Mansion, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and Majora’s Mask would all be nice.
I wasn’t excited until a day ago… With Oda’s Influencing Hand upon it, I trust it, and it looks better with each clip from the fan-screenings, and from the interviews and trailers… Optimism, it’s what I hope for, I hope it pays off truly! I want this to be the revolutionizer of anime adaptions.
And furthermore, can we get a Fist of the North Star Adaption done well, and even better, and with a fat budget… Jojo? Jojo would be perfect! Do Shows of 3-8 and make part 1 and 2 into three long movies!
Yup, they said Oda’s team is with them entire time. With some reshoots.
True! Which is also exciting! They listened to Oda, and honored his vision!
Now to see it bear fruit tomorrow! It’s exciting and terrifying all at once!
Early reviews looks great already. Overwhelmingly positive.
Launching about 4 hours, 22 mins from this post.
Well… I did not like it… It’s a good advancement in the quality of anime live action adaptions…
But, I wish this would’ve been so much better… Truly It broke my heart, I let my guard down, and held optimism.
Episode 3-4 my heart started falling, 5-6 I was just wallowing, and halfway through 7 I skipped to 8 and just didn’t look back… I mean, the setting and characters, the actors are good… just… The Music, the way they botched a perfect story for no reason… They ruined emotional moments, and tried to add their own…
But… it’s a start… I just hope… idk, to be honest… But, if Oda is happy… God Bless him, cuz I will not give that series a second look. Manga and Anime for life. Makes me value the pacing of the anime actually, cuz some moments just dragged on, and on, and on, and on…
What’s worse is… I know I complain a lot, and it sounds like I went in without hope… But, I woke up early, had some popcorn and a soda ready… I was shaking last night in excitement… I was thinking “Finally!”… Then like halfway through episode 3 I unintentionally turned off the tv, and went to my ipad…
I really wanted to be happy, I stuck through the first 4 episodes, I thought the opening 2 were good… I just couldn’t take it anymore… And now I’m just… sad… that I waited this long… 180ed to happy and was so excited, to just be… gored open…
But, as everyone says, I’m overcritical, I complain a lot, I should “Enjoy the Disappointments or I’ll never be happy”… I just love One Piece, it’s been a part of my life for six years… I see it as one of the best stories ever made… It inspired me, it made me happy, it emboldened me… And it was Half-way good, I promise you there’re things I enjoyed… They just weren’t enough…
At least it’ll bring in new fans at least… sighs in defeat and retreats to couch But, hey, as long as I have netflix, I can watch “Heart of Gold” and Film Gold tomorrow… Yeah! And rewatch one piece again! Maybe I can piece together Anime Episodes, cut some filler here and there, and just sit back and enjoy…
I did not watch the original. Its great for me.
Live Action Adaptations of Anime don’t work well in general.
If one wants something done right in regards to Anime Adaptation you need something Animated in the original Art Style!
In otherwords for shows like Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Sword Art Online, Madoka Magica, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Fullmetal Alchemist, Pretty Cure, Pokémon, Kirby, Lyrical Nanoha, etc. you need the Adaptation or Spinoff in the same Art Style as the original for it to work.
Furthermore Purists don’t want censorship and casual viewers want the shows to have Characters to have life in them both of which is easier when the Adaptation isn’t a Dub of the original.
Power Rangers and Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monsters are both examples of a good Adaptation/Spinoff of a Japanese work by the West while the Dubs of Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon and Sailor Moon are bad Adaptations for Censorship while various Purist Dubs are bad Adaptations due to the Voice Acting being stilted.
and that’s a good thing, it’s not bad at all, I’m justa crazy fan XD
Hopefully nobody in the cast ages for however long it takes to film 1,000+ eps
Like Season 1, they will remove unnecessary stuffs and minor characters. Got people say Season 1 is like 80 anime episodes.
60 to be precise, though less if they decide to place Loguetown in Season 2. It’ll be interesting, to say the least. At the moment though, I’m simply glad so many new faces have looked to One Piece!
Measuring it up, the entirety of Baroque Works is around 90-100~ chapters, and I think one of the best arcs in the series! The Emotions, Tensions and all are masterful!
Sure I won’t watch the adaption anymore, season 1 broke my heart, but I have hope for it! Please, please, please Get Dwayne Johnson for Ohm in Skypeia! I think it’d be PERFECT! And I know it’s crazy, but Liam Neeson for Crocodile in Alabasta! XD! Oh, who should be Kaido? Man oh man, one thing I can give the show it has everything ignoring story and music. So I’ll be excited to see who they choose for important roles later on!
I though it was pretty solid, only 5 episodes in but I enjoy it. I think the creative decisions in terms of plot and the melding of backstories being told earlier adds to this adaptation. I think the casting and keeping the essence of Oda’s designs alive without sacrificing the world he built. I do miss the inclusion of the more minor story bits that the show cut though.
I think it would’ve been a bad idea but I think Melissa McCarthy would have been a hilarious Alvida. Based entirely on her cameo as Hela in Love and Thunder.
Though I am a little bias as I already watch a lot of Tokusatsu (Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Ultraman) shows which are anime but live action by design.
Renewed for Season 2.

Getting great ratings. As expected some doesn’t like the changes.
Hope Jamie Lee Curtis gets her role on Season 2.
I kind of like it, it’s goofy and strange but kind of fun.
