If memory serves from a couple years ago when there was a thread were bunch of us got deep into the weeds thinking about this type of thing.
The big problem is there’s a very valid reason to leave keys. Players playing exclusively for score. They’d be abandoning keys routinely and without issue because they’re only interested in timing keys for score.
So just having a metric could be very bad for them.
So you need a vote system, or just don’t count leaves from keys over 10. Which might be the best solution. Have a percentage of keys left unfinished metric for keys less than a 10. Most players will have a very low percentage and some will always find themselves in situations where keys fail.
Vote to abandon sounds good at first but there’s just too many ways it could get abused or encourage bad behaviors.

I’m sure you aren’t telling us the whole story, he didn’t want to abandon after one failed pull… what do the chat logs look like? You showing us a 4/5 vote doesn’t mean anything.

Horrible system which will be reversed
Its still the start and gear is important to most atm. Nobody can predict a group being bad at timing but vault is still a reward for completing. Not everyone is chasing a stupid io score.
I usually wait till later in the season when more people know the dungeons better and we have the good gear.

Anyone know how many times you have to leave a key to get a mark?
And how to remove it?
You can announce that on your group. “Completion for vault”.
Not everyone is chasing stupid vault.

You guys can leave keys. The mark thing is for those that ‘excessively’ leave keys.
The abandon tool is just a nice option to not lose anything for a bad run.

It’s almost like catering to the forum crybabies who went on about “leavers” was a bad idea.

I stopped doing mythics shortly after they were introduced, it’s always been ICK,

I think the big confusion here is people conflating the votes on the vote screen with a “yes” vote.
The screen is simply showing you the amount of players that have cast a vote. One or all of those votes could be a no.

Move on please. Make room for
Noobs To get of your platform.
The system is fine, it’s just a problem with tank entitlement.
They do these massive pulls with no thought to them what so ever and then blame the group.
I don’t understand why no one uses the time before the key goes in to communicate with your team. “Okay team here is the plan”
Would literally solve 99% of the problems. But what happens is, the tank watched some streamer that day and jumps into a key to try the exact same pull in an uncordinated group with zero communication.
Leaver system is fine, it’s this community’s aversion to talking to one another is the issue. Bunch of anti social gamers …
10 and below aren’t that difficult to time.
A group that fails to time them might be so rough that doing an entire separate key would be easier to get vault than stick with them.
I haven’t seen a single flagged player in any groups I’ve contemplated signing up for and honestly once you hit double digit keys and especially 12’s/13’s to get your 3k and eventually vault fill (as it is quite arguable 12’s end up easier than 10/11 since you just have MOAR STATS!!! instead of hot goth mommy Xally nonsense to deal with) it’s just far more accepted to drop a resil key run on a bad start so seeing flagged people is likely to be more common anyway.
Granted I’m not looking at anything sub 8’s and now that I caught up on gilded crests 10+, but I can definitely imagine the quality of players still hanging around those low key ranges and the nonsense that goes on.
And while I have had a few keys I strongly considered abandoning…there isn’t a force in the universe save for God themselves keeping me in a group “I” have determined is not getting or worth the headache of completing. Like I’m the guy who will stay in to at least get that +1 to vault, but there are just sometimes where a group is collectively punching far too above their weight class and that +1 to vault isn’t worth it.
So if/when those times come, I’m bouncing no matter if that means I’ll get flagged or not and when it comes to hosting my own key, an acceptably geared and scored person is getting that invite mark or no mark…but specifically when it comes to score I actively avoid inviting people punching down in key levels clearly far below them. If they’re like 3300+, I don’t need them vs a 3k. I can be far more sure the 3k person is going to be more in sync with the pulls and ebb and flow of the dungeon than the 3300+ whose far more likely to expect and DEMAND things go their way and will “help” pull or do degenerate nonsense that just isn’t needed in 12-13’s.
Yeah, not a good idea in general.
Pro tip - just leave
If you don’t leave key after key in a row, nothing happens. If you time/complete keys after just leaving one, I am pretty sure it goes away/doesn’t count against you.
Leaving 1 key wont flag you.
I would never just sit there. I try /abandon, but if it fails I am still leaving.
what does it matter what the chat log looked like? 4 out of 5 people didn’t want to stay in the dungeon, they should not be force to with the threat of a “punishment” looming over their head, or in this case… name.
It’s a trash system.

Yup. 4/5 should be enough.
I had a similar argument in a low key. 2 guys started arguing over the one button rotation, because some loser had an addon that, I guess can say that somebody is using it (I dunno if this is true or not.) The tank then refused to pull because of this. We all voted to leave the key because the tank was a toxic loser and he just sat there laughing (The ‘one button’ dude didn’t even do the worst dps lol).
I just left and logged after about 5 mins. Last time I pug low keys on my alts.
Why does it matter? Because that’ll show closer to the whole story and that’s important.
I agree that 4/5 should get the abandon, I don’t agree that it’s a bad system… it just needs some tweaks. I also believe the threat of punishment is a good thing and it’s something a lot of people never had to deal with growing up, so all these potential punishments seem unfair to them.
