It happened almost the same to me. One person didnt want to vote so /abandon failed. Then 1 person left, then another one left. And then another one. Then we were only 2 inside the dung waiting not knowing what to do if leaving or not just to not get the penalty.
Blizz should explain more the penalty.

Ah no, I value my time and only run with friends. If I did pug I wouldn’t let someone do that to me under the assumption we went in for the same goal and that goal clearly wasn’t going to be met.
They have significantly longer CDs on their interrupts, so if they all flub their interrupt (i.e. everyone tries to interrupt an unimportant cast), there’s going to be a long time where there’s barely any interrupts going out (the tank every 10 seconds, possibly the healer, if they’re a resto druid or shaman)

i wouldn’t even care about the vote system tbh…if someone is being like that, or the group is making my experience hard to enjoy, i’ll just leave, and as someone said up top - the mark doesn’t mean anything.
the vote system should only apply to que’d content - not ones where you’re supposed to put effort into assembling a team. Creating your own group should be part of the decision making process that makes or breaks your run, just like your strategy & ability usage imo.

This is odd. I thought they were going to make it so the leaver penalty only effects frequent leavers. Not just anyone who leaves even if its your first time leaving the season.

In principle I don’t mind there being a keys left uncompleted metric with a vote to avoid getting dinged for it. Vote should be simple majority though. Maybe even 2/3rds. Unless the system encourages some really bad behaviors most M+'ers would probably be around 1 out 60 keys left. Reasonable people will have no problem with that metric if IO, ilvl and keys completed are good.
I used to argue for a vote system like this a couple years ago but changed my mind about it because it just got too complicated to manage all the ways to abuse it.
Easier to just say, player created problem, find a player created solutions. while having a keys left percentage.
In Overwatch you only get punished if you leave often.
It is really a bad system. There were several runs that we couldnt initiated the vote. In addition, groups forced others to stay even when it is obvious that the key isnt going to be timed because they want “vault”. If you want completion, announced on the LFG, some of us dont care about vault.

If they change it so you only need 3/5 votes to abandon and you only get punished for leaving if you leave often, then I think it would be fine.
