So I decided I wanted to try Brewmaster. Went from 1-48 as BM. Having a good ol’ time, things are going smooth. I think I might even try this as my main in 9.1. I hit SL and have to do the Maw. I hate that there isn’t a skip for this yet, but it is what it is. Killing things is going slow so I go WW to hurry it up. Get through the quests, select Threads of Fate and figure I’m going to get back to dungeon grinding. Nope, turns out you need to be ilvl 80 for a regular Shadowlands normal leveling dungeon. I’m not even remotely close. Like 52 or something. Only way for me to hit that ilvl is to quest on a spec I have no intention playing. RIP that character, back to the TBC waiting lounge. One less tank in the queue.
You’re choosing to kill things as windwalker because it’s faster I don’t see the problem,
Side note, Brewmaster can aoe pull and kill fast as well
We’ve found the problem.
Only way for me to hit that ilvl is to quest on a spec I have no intention playing.
Hmm?
I don’t want to play WW. Nor do I want to quest as BM. I want to level in dungeons. Moving from one expansion’s normal dungeons to the next expansion’s normal dungeons seems like a logical step.
pick up LW, make the green starter SL gear, or just buy it on the ah
I have a LW. The first green gear is ilvl 111 @ level 57 in SL. BFA LW gear is 50. There’s nothing in between.
If your character is 50+ and your ilvl is less than 80, there is gear you can get in the AH to upgrade almost every slot.
idk. I just (with much complaint) pushed a mage through the maw scenario. bought some gear on the ah, and was doing dungeons within a few minutes.
You could pickup enough gear on the AH for probably like 10k gold at this point. And end of BFA gear was like 120 or something. So if youre ilvl 50 then you have like late legion/early bfa items? You probably need some better gear anyway so you dont get trucked and wipe to 2 mobs in SL dungeon.
Search for “Desolate Leather” gear on the AH.
Maybe the problem is your server being dead as hell, but I can pick up green BoE’s for every slot except trinkets for a couple k for the whole set.
They’re practically giving away ilvl 100 rings with sockets. And gems are cheap.
Blizzard clearly did not consider players would be that low ilvl if they picked Threads of Fate.
They must have given it some thought, they let you do the Maw intro at 48.
but mobs are level 50 haha
A normal BfA dungeon gives ilvl 72 gear at level 50.
Wouldn’t it just be simplest to do like 5 or 6 quests until you replace enough gear to que? The stuff in the starting areas is like 100 (The first good necklace we get is 98) so if you need ilevel 80 then that means you don’t even need a full set.
You may check your map and see what world quests offer as rewards, as well. Threads of Fate opens those and bonus objectives. As a brew–even a little baby one–you’d have above average survivability for this.
I thought that character level 57 crafted gear is equipable at level 50 and like iLvl 87 if you use crafter’s marks?
Same thing with DKs. I like Blood a lot, but neither of the DPS specs appeal to me, and I need to play a DPS spec in solo content if I want to be efficient.
Just pull everything and then heal yourself until it’s all dead. Bonestorm is awesome for leveling.
I used to play with a monk named Budlar, almost your name.
Pretty sure SL normal dungeon ilvl requirements are not making people decide not to play tanks.
There is no shortage of tanks. There is only a shortage of tanks who will tank for pugs.
