One Last Tinker post, and unsubbing

Hello All, as of today, I will unfortunately be living in a situation with incredibly restricted internet access. So in spite of the new expansion, I will be unsubscribing until living conditions improve.

I want to let everyone know that I have a great time on this forums. And I appreciate all opinions that found their way to my numerous tinker class threads.
Special mentions go to Rakki, Mongaloid, Clockworth. Illidette, Zerogrusel, Beaupeep, Averyx, and of course Meezah.

For my last post for a while. I will restate my opinion on classes in full:
The real post starts here

Will the current design of classes in WoW, and with assets that we have seen throughout previous expansion, I believe that Tinkers are likely to be the Next class implemented into World of Warcraft.
We’ve seen Tinkers from all walks of Azeroth, multiple races, multiple planets, and multiple styles.
Tinkers date all the way back to Warcraft 3 Heroes. Just like Monks, Demon Hunters, and Death Knights.

The Tinker Class has even been shown more directly in BFA.
The island expedition teams are neatly divided into Tank, Healer, and Ranged DPS. 3 roles this game needs more of.
And of course, on Exiles Reach, there are two new NPCs, (one for horde and one for alliance) that are both representative of Tinkers. They use Technology and Gadgets instead of weapons or Magic.

The Ideal Tinker class in my opinion would use Intelligence for all 3 specializations.
It would wear Mail Armor, and have 3 specializations.
TANK: In a Mech suit (Would possibly use a gun as a stat-stick item)
HEALER With a Gun, using healing darts, and healing grenades
RANGED DPS With a gun, using turrets, bombs, and missiles.

With this design, Blizzard would be able to use existing assets in order to create a new class. Existing Bows, Crossbows, and Guns could have stat-switch from Agility to Intelligence. so they could be used by Hunters and Tinkers.

In Short:
Tinkers are a new class, that fulfill desired roles by the community
Tinkers could be constructed mostly out of existing assets
Tinkers would allow for a Intelligence-stacking Tank.
Tinkers do not conflict with the themes of existing classes.
None of the existing classes fufill the fantasy of being a tinker

Therefore:
I conclude that Tinkers are the most likely class to be added to World of Warcraft!

I love all of you, thanks for all the fun!

Blizzard should make all the current classes fun and viable before adding a new class like tinker.

That is unfortunately not in the hands of the class balance team.

Adding a new class would be up to the board of game directors. If they feel the need for a new class, then a new class will be added.

I think a new class is in their sights.

Sorry to hear that you’re unsubbing. Hopefully your living condition improves.

I agree with you that Tinkers make the most sense of any future class concept. While I have seen a pretty wide spectrum of possible ideas for the class, the type I prefer are the mech based Tinkers. While unlikely, I would like to see every Tinker spec have a mech that they can hop in and out of.

A mechanical cousin to the Druid class with its own flight form, travel form, and aquatic form, but instead of turning into animals, the mech transforms into different vehicles. Also I think the game REALLY needs another physical ranged class, and through the mech, the Tinker can achieve that goal while equipping a wide variety of INT weapons (they don’t make INT guns).

Anyway, take care, and let’s hope the Tinker gets announced in 12 months at Blizzcon 2021.

I personally think it’s completely ludicrous that only 1 class can use ranged weapons, and that all of those ranged weapons are strictly agility.

Tinkers would serve to give another ranged class that isn’t limited by magic.
Hunter, Unfortunatley doesn’t live up to this fantasy for everyone. Since Hunter is neatly divided into 3 specs, only one of which is truly focused on dealing damage from a range.

Beast master, on the other hand is focused on cheering on animals, while Survival is a lot of fun but also Melee.

Tinker fills a lot of holes in the class roster.
A healer that uses ranged weapons.
More than 1 class that uses ranged weapons for damage
A class that can do both Ranged Damage and Tank. Currently the only class that can do this is Druid, but Bear and Balance have wildly different items and stats.

There’s plenty of room for a Tinker class to fill what holes remain in the class roster

At least we’re done with Tinker thread spam.

Why you couldn’t stick to one megathread like the blues suggest is beyond me.

That is, at least, until living conditions improve, Rhielle.
It’s a pleasure to see you as always. I hope you can anticipate a likely new class For 10.0. Or at least whenever they decide to add a new class.

Much like the coveted “necromancer”, I know you and those like you got a thing for “tinker”, but WoW doesn’t need a new class. what it does need is a tank spec in both the cloth and mail armor categories as well as a tanking or healing spec to be added to pure dps classes. In fact, the later would solve the former.

Would love a new class but imho tinker sounds lame and for me aesthetically won’t be attractive

Would rather have some sort of necromancer!

tinker is zz, hope it never happens.

I don’t understand this at all.

sure wow doesn’t “Need” a new class.
It also doesn’t “Need” new expansions or new raids.
A new class will come out of the want for new content from the board of directors.

Both of these are fair opinions, If you dislike the Idea for the class that’s completely personal.
But I should reiterate on my evidence above for why they’re likely:

There are Tinker NPCs in your party on Exiles Reach, the new starting zone
There are Tinker NPC’s on island expedition teams, complete with specializations, level requirements, and cooldowns.
Tinkers have been around since Warcraft 3 as hero units. Just like Death Knight, Demon Hunter, and Monk.

Therefore, with the evidence we’ve seen in the recent patches for World of Warcraft, I think Tinkers are likely.
of course That doesn’t mean I can say with 100% certainty that they are coming. But I believe that they are likely

Hmm, a little too narrow.

Heavy Weapons (Tank): A Shocktrooper geared for the frontlines clad in magnetically-charged armor and explosive weapons.

Suggested Iconics:
Cluster Rockets: (Cleave CD that hits 5 enemies in front of you, applies Shrapnel Blast Debuff.)
Robo - Dummy: (Tanks for you when needed.)
Shrapnel Blast: (Primary AoE, grenade that blows up a set amount of enemies and provides a debuff that reduces their damage to the tank, stackable.)
Jet Flare (Slow, leaping movement, Small DoT field around you on landing.)
Buckshot: (12ft cleave, damage maxed on one target in melee range.)
Wheels of Pain (Passive): (When damaged, gain stacking damage reduction and explode in gears every once in a while.)
~

Field Medic (Healer): An operator equipped with special-brewed healing darts and nanites that quickly repair the bodies of their allies and provide them with buffs.

Suggested Iconics:
Q41K-F1X: (Instant healing dart with a HoT)
Flesh Cohesion: (Fires gel at an ally that provides a buff that offers a HoT shield.)
Bad Solution: (primary damaging ability. works like a mini, old explosive shot.)
Medical Spray: (Name self-explanitory. Cleave HoT with small direct healing.)
Dibiotic Cannister: (Throwable AoE that is both a HoT and a DoT field, good for your boys, bad for the evil dudes.)
The Good Doctor (Passive): Healing dudes increases your next Bad Solution shot damage, hurting dudes increases the effectiveness of the next Q41K-F1X shot.
~

Warhound (Damage): A soldier of fortune who is armed with more than enough firepower to rip-and-tear through their targets.

Suggested Iconics:
Trench Blast: (Cone cleave, melee range targets receive more damage and and a bleed debuff.)
Grenade Cluster: (AoE CD, area explodes about 5 times.)
Quick-stick: (Jabs a knife into the enemy’s side, reducing their movement speed and applying a bleed DoT.)
Rugged Tactician (Passive): (Trench blast gains the benefit of getting Quick-stick off of CD into an upgrade version that frontloads the damage instead.)
Robo-Chicken: (Chuck a ‘harmless’ chicken towards a location. Enemies near it will be followed by the chicken until it touches the model hit-box of their target.)
Lay Waste: (DPS CD, Trench blast now deals max damage at the end of its range, Grenade cluster now applies a stacking fire DoT debuff, Robo Chicken is multiplied into 3, Quick-stick is always upgraded).

This is the best I can do and even then most of Tinker’s stuff is kinda outshined by the fact that Hunter exists.

TINKER FANS! The closest thing to a tinker currently is the Survival Hunter with engineering profession, if you unlock taming mechanical pets.

As a S Hunter you get to throw bombs, you feel kind of tech focused on damaged in that regard but you’re still a hunter using a melee weapon.

On top of that using a mechanical pet with engineering provides the immersion that helps out. Even BM or MM can be good too. Just use guns.

A real tinker, that would probably be a bomb throwing, gadget using, combat engineer with a load of capabilities including various tech based utilities, does not exist in the game yet sadly. :frowning:

A lot of these idea’s are awesome

However, The reason I don’t usually give original concepts is because they don’t really add anything to the classes legitimacy.

There’s a lot of room for cool technology focused abilities, but I usually assume we’ll get abilities that Blizzard has already made for the Tinker NPCs.
Certain abilities like Deployable turrets, rockets, grenades, and lasers already have Level requirements and cool downs. In game, since patch 8.1

All the “Mechanical pets” in game at the moment are mechanical ANIMALS.

As a Hunter. You will always have Animal aspects, Animal themed abilities, Poisons, ETC.
The fantasy of hunter is its own unique thing, and it is a poor compromise to pretend it’s tinker.

Especially considering it’s nothing like the Tinker hero from WC3. Who had Shredders, Rockets, Turrets, ETC.

Sadly this is true.

Its the only thing we have for now to have fun as one though. I’ts not a compromise and I didn’t phrase it as such either. in case anyone thinks I’m doing that.

I’m hopeful we will get a new class and I hope its tinker. <3

Nobody wants engineering as a class.

It would just be monks all over again, a complete waste of resources.

Tinkering for the Tinker God!

Death Knights, Demon Hunter, and Monks are all based directly off of Hero units from WC3.

Every class in this game takes at least mild inspiration from WC3.

Tinkers were also in WC3. But none of the classes are “Tinkers”

Oh sorry to hear that , hope your conditions improve soon!

Either way Tinker is a popular concept and an idea we have needed for a long time, I’m sure more threads will pop out (though not as many of course!).

In any case, good luck!

TBH I don’t think megathreads are productive, they get reduced to a lounge of 4-6 people discussing the same over and over or just going off topic. Which also becomes a soft barrier of entrance to anyone wanting to discuss the topic (not wanting to be the new weird kid there).

I doubt the blues or anyone reads the threads beyond the first few repplies and and I doubt they really believe the 3K post means support. A lot of threads discussing different stuff about the one thing every time seems to be way better to catch the attention.

I love monks, hard disagree they’re a complete waste of resources.

Most people I know who’ve actually tried monks seem to think they’re quite a bit of fun, especially WW.
