With the success of the one button rotation ability for accessibility reasons, I propose a new similar one button rotation based around healing. During Legion there was a very famous rotation bot which was going around, within this bot were settings that would automatically heal for you as well. You could adjust what % of hp the target should be at to cast specific spells and when to favor high mana costs etc etc.
The majority of the work that is put into this game is based around group content, and it’s simply reasonable for these accessibility options to extend to healing. No one really wants to look at giant raid frames when there’s all these beautiful scenes around, and some people may never get to experience some of the more enjoyable raid environments progressing with a team while playing their favorite role. I think a slight GCD nerf similar to the dps 1 button rotation should be sufficient. Thoughts?
Healing doesn’t work in the same way that dps or tanking does. You don’t have a rotation, you use a spell or an ability that is best suited for the situation/circumstance.
You don’t need to automate healing. We are playing a game not watching a bot play on behalf of us.
As DPS you can muscle memory and use a set rotation to a certian extent while you pay attention to all the run out of circle dance dance, but healers have to stay laser focused on the UI health bars.
The encounter design from the last couple of expansions has really taken a toll on our elderly healers from guild. A lot of problems getting out of the fire.
Think the meta problem is all the scaling and power creep through gear systems has left the core combat rotation unable to provide a usable skill check. So we have this quasi extreme avoidance game. But they also tacked on a lot situational and proc based rotations that you have to pay attention to and healing is entirely situational.
The main issue would good healing is targeting, not a rotation. if more life gone, use emergency quick spell for high mana cost, or mass healing if everyone is going down. This is not a rotation.
Why not? The single one button option for DPS is loved and it’s basically equivalent of a bot playing it for you. It even knows when it’s time to aoe.
Bot can handle that too, similar to the single button rotation knowing to aoe.
the problem with healers you have to know when the damage is coming to prepare before it happens, and when you didnt prepare be calm to save the party without wiping, one panick attack and everyone dies they dont have a rotation
and not talking about people taking damage they can avoid like standing in aoe or smt
Not only this, but it has to account for people doing things they should not, like standing in things, standing in goop, frontal, boss melee, tail swipes, wrong debuffs, wrong moves, wrong soaks, etc.
Perhaps the one button rotation for healers can be just generalised, not optimized for things like tank busters from mobs. That way it’s balanced from the player having to look out for those. Of course you’d have to use your large healing cooldowns manually.
my thoughts currently are that bliz IS actually prepping this game for console after their trashing Beastmaster…a braindead spec as it was, made even more low IQ than anything else in the game.
If they do this crap to more specs, id say its confirmed that they are absolutely going console …and IF that ends up being the case, you’ll likely get your wish…they’ll dumb down healing to bot level boring soon enough.
I do use the one-button while healing, to dps a target.
It’s a problem, healing in general. We can have over twenty targets and sometimes have heal a boss or orb. We use addons, big clunky addons and use up our screen space. We have other jobs like a dispel on command or need. Or NOT dispelling in the council fight!
And no one has found an elegant solution yet. If one-button was a solution, we’d have seen it.
Healing is too dynamic and reactionary, I would never use the one button rotation for healing, I love how fast you have to think, and the decisions you have to make lightning fast when healing.
Honestly I used it as I run around on my dps to take in the sites and things i can play normal also it can help you learn situational rotations very fast. I think every spec and class should be allowed an optimized 1 button accessibility option. Its not just spamming 1 it also teaches you reactionary rotation changes in diverse settings or in accidental pulls. Its very good for accessibility with the bonus of teaching newer people how to play rotations or W3 players who have been playing WoW since inception be a little lazy every now and then to just get home and unwind without stressing don’t stand in fire and win type.
The OBR is definitely something new players could use for a bit until the get a little more used to the game itself. Then once they get a hang for mechanics and such, start branching out to more detailed combat working more into a rotation thing over time.
Healing OBR wouldn’t work for many reasons. From selecting the correct party/raid member to heal, to using healing cooldowns properly, to mana management in longer fights.
It’s too different from dps for OBR, you cant just use the best spell/ability available at the time to max dmg. What you would cast as a healer would depend on the health missing of party/raid memebers and the damage incoming in the next few seconds. It would also be alot more difficult for proactive healing classes then reactive ones to use.
