I’ve noticed a big misunderstanding about the one button rotation, especially on youtube.
I don’t know if people just haven’t tried it or are confused, but I notice a lot of people saying stuff like “if you use the one button rotation you arent inturrupting” and stuff like that.
These comments have been said by a number of youtubers, so i wanted to make this thread.
While it is true that the one button does not inturrupt or cast defenses ect, there is nothing saying you only have to use the one button.
Even on classes that I use the one button rotation I still have other things keybound. One button is just like a macro that casts your dps rotation.
I actually find it easier to inturrupt when Im not worried about watching for procs. It just lessens the bloat a bit.
Are there a lot of other people only using the one button without their other abilities?
Anyway I just kept seeing these comments on youtube, so I was wondering. Do you guys also keybind other moves? And have you guys found success or failure with the one button rotation helper?
I’m not sure about the comments you’re referring to, but the sentiment might be that someone that is using the OBR are less likely to be the kind of people that interrupt diligently, not that you literally can’t interrupt if using it.
I’m not sure, I could see that being the case…but a lot of people don’t interrupt much.
It’s clear that you can still interrupt and use defensives and at the same time it’s also clear that someone relying on OBR to handle their rotation is unlikely to be the kind of person that does interrupt or use defensives.
it really depends. i know some perfectly capable players who use it on alts they can’t be bothered spending tons of time optimizing. they’re using it in delves, for example.
That’s why you keybind other things. When not actually tanking for live players my blood Dk’s keybinds 1 and 2 (or x and y on the controller) are SBA and death strike. All my people have a 2nd button or more when I use the Single button assistant. And they all keep the same universal interrupt keybind (right trigger on controller).
I like that it’s an option, but I don’t use it on every class. When I do use it, I still have my original bars setup the way they have always been as I have a system that works for me.
I place long cooldown buffs on the left, followed by DOT based attacks, then instant and AOE attacks. Finishing moves are the last in the row. All my interrupts and utility features are on the bar above. That system just doesn’t fit into the one button rotation.
I do like that when using OBR, that my focus is more on what’s happening in the combat instead of the what I am going to click on next especially with ability bloat classes.
Oh, yeah the gcd can get you in a pinch, if you already know your class really well especially.
I did better on my uh dk but thats because I dont know the class as well so spent more time looking at abilities to cast and would usually see things late.
On a class I was more familiar with I could inturrupt a lot more fluidly then the assist gcd penalty would allow.
