I feel like most of us quickly outgrow the world quest gear drops, essentially making those WQs much less desirable/rewarding. What if they dropped a random piece of gear from previous expansions as an appearance collection? It would get more people out doing world quests, and the variety of items over the last 20 years ~essentially~ makes it evergreen content for 95% of players.
I feel like that well would dry up in less than a year unless they make transmog super rare.
They should at least make world bosses gear scale with patches. Now they are worthless
World quests really are only worth doing for the gold as even a freshly leveled character surpasses that gear in a matter of a few hours at most. They do need to make changes but not sure making transmog a reward is a good call as that would run dry or not be worthwhile depending on each persons collection.
world quest gear should titanforge again
All gear “should” titanforge if it comes back. Restricting it to world quest gear still puts world quest gear a solid tier if not more under basic t8 delve loot.
But woe be these forums if the day titanforging comes back. The cries of the tryhards, and ESPECIALLY the mythic raiding variant, will REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the most screechy of REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE’s to have ever REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE’d
Because they can’t help themselves and would see EVERY potential world quest as a possible “BIS chance” drop and “have” to do it on every alt…plus spend all their waking time running the dreaded boogeyman of mythic+ for the infinite drops that all can (and totes would) titanforge up.
Truly if there ever was a hell, titanforging coming back definitely would be what a tryhard’s version of it would be…with the most baddie of casuals having equipped max mythic item level world quest gear(ungemmed and unenchanted) sitting atop the mount of whatever the mythic raid end boss drops and said mythic end raid boss corpse under their very undeserved feet as they stand proud and smiling being the devil themself.
I want to see this world…like really badly.
bro it’s not that deep
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh I’m imaging things and it’s like my boy Falric said in Halls of Reflection way back in Wrath (think it was him)
Despair…so delicious
It means you have to move forward and seek higher difficulty content that is desirable/rewarding. WoW is not just world questing.
It would be nice if the reward was warbound. Then I could gear up my stable of alts I don’t have time to play.
They used to get an airing for weekly crafting, but since the TWW changes, those aren’t worth doing any more.
i’d rather run through old expacs for tmog than do wqs tbh
I mean, in some ways I see the point. However, I already do old content to get transmogs because outside of current content WQ, I don’t generally have time for mythic plus or raids. Actually, I should say that I don’t have an uninterrupted stream of time necessary for mythic plus.
It would not devalue it for me. I already make WQ and campaign my primary content goals. I’m digressing but with classic I have had the opportunity to be interrupted because of the expectation to wait. Having to return to a dungeon from dying or flying to an entrance.
I hit the WQ ilvl gear plateau quickly in retail. It’s rarely meaningful and almost never enticing me to push harder content because ultimately it is tramsmogs I prefer over ilvl and if I have to wait 3 expansions to solo a mythic raid, then so be it to get those appearances.
They dangle tasty carrots in front of me, but I feel no compulsion.
wait now raiders want to be forced to do world content after complaining about it for years?
they raid - that is why they have outleveled world quest gear already. I don’t and my characters are still getting upgrades
Not for me. Ever since Final Fantasy 1, I prefer to outlevel or gain max level to return to old areas and peacefully explore.
Oblivion turned me off in some ways with the scaling combat. ESO is the same way. Old content challenges even high CP. That’s not how I explored the world. And lorewise it makes no sense to have a highway bandit in full Dragonbone gear robbing me for 20 septums
I digress. I don’t graduate from WQ to want to raid. Nor do I graduate from tier 8 delves to do mythic plus. PvP is unrewarding and demoralizing since Shadowlands with premades, carries, and toxicity as a solo shuffle though there are nice looking transmogs there too.
I don’t have this Pokemon got to catch them all mentality. It’s artificial scarcity. It could be put on the AH, cash shop, black market, Tenders, or part of some anniversary event. Typically, the participation Anniversary events for old gear is great. Much like the 20 year mega anniversary we had.
I got all of the class tier 2s. It had a convenient currency coming from many sources of content with WQ from Dornagal being a big one. In that case, it was fun but not more-so than any other time.
I’ve played long enough now to feel utterly saturated in the myriad ways to gear gear, appearances, etc such that it doesn’t make me upset to take a long break because 99% of will return. Or the possibility of it exists because “unobtainable” is just an on/off switch to Blizz
And yet people are still doing them.
Why?
Because the rewards are still desired and rewarding.
So it would be a waste of time and resources for Blizzard to add more rewards to them.
Let’s not make old content even more irrelevant.
No, it wouldn’t.
People aren’t going to do current world quests, where they have to wait for or compete with other players to finish, just for a RNG-choosen old content transmog drop.
Evergreen content is content that is continually evolving as in adding something new to the old.
Just adding old rewards to new content does not make it evergreen content.
But adding new rewards to old content would.
See the difference?
Regardless, this is not an idea that would improve the overall game.
It is just a bid for more! more! more!
