On devs abdicating responsibility for the PUG game

I wnat to see the entire party - their IO, their gear score…etc through the add-on
i want to filter out keys by level
I want to filter out by highest key of whatever i’m joining or listing
I want to “ban” people from applying to my groups with one click.
I want to be able to do a better job at gatekeeping (for example have options, that say “only show to lust classes” or “only to ranged…” etc

Sure that would work. What could Microsoft possibly do that might go wrong?

You mean like outsource the server maintenance to a 3rd party that releases a patch that takes down the entire platform?

Not the case, the numbers have been significantly dropping every season not just season 4. Even shadowlands numbers heavily dropped

No they havent.

Also.

How was your vault?

You were so aggressive about your vault. Trying to pretend you didn’t say those things isn’t gonna go well

You must be a welcome guest at any party

Gatekeeping is such a terrible thing at gaming, I guess you are very proud of it?

Its not even gatekeeping though.

M+ is an absolute joke right now and has been this entire expansion.

If I block someone for good reason, why should they still be able to apply to my group?

TL;DR: People who pug should lower their expectations. They should not expect anything remotely like progress or fun content from the game. But they should keep paying to support OP’s playstyle. Anybody who disagrees is unwilling to rework their personal lives in order to be able to play with a fixed group as God intended and thus deserves nothing.

You started off fine (It IS a PSA that PUGing isn’t likely to get more support than the tools it’s been given), but I’d like to throw in here that I DO think playing with your friends is still very much supported, more than ever, you just don’t need to stick to the five person hardline trinity gameplay of dungeons to have your group supported. Those 1-5 person options (specifically delves) being available will likely bite in to the M+ PUG game as it’s been known, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

But yes, I do start a lot of these threads to prepare people for the potential reality that lots of folks will bail on M+ PUGing for delves, and that that’s ok.

I’m not sure where people get the idea that there are hard lines being drawn between different kinds of PvE content. Chances are fairly low that anyone is going to trade the infinite loot pinata that is M+ for a weekly heroic delve piece.

There is a lot of overlap and most M+ers are probably just going to use the delve system as an early gear supplement. Delves just aren’t going to be capable of being their own end game grind outside of the players that never touch raids or M+ to begin with.

No they didn’t, they put their fingers on the scales in favor of pugging, with things like the stacking damage/healing bonus, and extra rewards if you use the pug tools.

I get extra Timewalking badges if I tell my friends to go to hell and pug with a random group, instead. That’s not “they left it up to the players”.

They are still trying to find ways to convince pugs to join guilds or recruit other players into permanent sports teams. Unfortunately, much of the “incentives” feel like a punishment to those who aren’t interested in competing with or playing with those who want nothing to do with them anyway.

This “you will have no choice but to make friends, you antisocial loser” isn’t actually a positive message.

Did I just read an entire dissertation on the obvious that we’ve always known?

To be fair, this is an MMORPG. The game is designed to be played with other people. While they do give some solo-play options, the focus of the game is to play with other people.

I gave up retail going forward if i get a wow itch I might play classic something. The devs don’t have the ability to create a good mmo system anymore. Unless you bring in your own people to do the content there will not be a way forward. In pugs folks hate each other and there is no way to make friends in that environment.
