So, I got into being a healer so I could be one of those dudes who, eventually, one day, “carries” the group, as much as that is possible, only to run across a strange paradox, so, while, healers are necessary, and important, the paradox is, in my experience, they are ALSO the least necessary and the least important, as far as I can see, I’m not stating a fact, I’m merely repeating the experience I have had, so far
and that experience is that its the dps, and the tank, who avoids standing in the fire so I don’t have to heal them to begin with, and its the dps, and the tank, who actually kills the things for me, sure, they’d be dead if I wasn’t there, but it boils down to this
if I do my job perfectly and the team totally screws up, it doesn’t matter how good I heal them, meanwhile, the better a team performs, the less they need me, so it’s an inverse sliding scale-the better the team, the less my skill matters at all
if we’re talking about m+ healer is absolutely necessary because with healing you can pull bigger packs, take more damage, and kill the timer faster.
If we’re talking about raiding, it’s necesary because damage is unavoidable. if we’re talking about stuff that doesn’t matter, you’re right i guess, healing doesn’t matter.
In dungeons and LFR, I heal myself. Other than that, all I see from healers are running around, popping their cool downs on cool down and not when they’re needed. He generally are pretty less than important because they’re less than smart these days.
Now that’s public healers which I’m assuming you are and I’m not saying you’re dumb. I’m just saying public healers is what I’m talking about.
Actually, public healers from two specific realms that I will not name
If I was in a raiding guild again, that would be extremely important and they would carry the team in some cases.
