On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the overall fun and balance of class gameplay for each expansion?

  1. Vanilla/Classic WoW: The foundation of class design—simple but iconic. How did you feel about the class fantasy and balance?
  2. The Burning Crusade: Introduced new abilities and specs. Did classes feel more dynamic and fun?
  3. Wrath of the Lich King: Brought dual specs and more polish. Did your class feel at its peak here?
  4. Cataclysm: Overhauled talents and abilities. Did the changes make your class more or less enjoyable?
  5. Mists of Pandaria: Introduced class-specific quests and abilities. Did this expansion make your class feel unique?
  6. Warlords of Draenor: Pruned abilities and added perks. Did your class feel streamlined or stripped down?
  7. Legion: Introduced artifact weapons and class halls. Did this expansion make your class feel legendary?
  8. Battle for Azeroth: Added Azerite traits and essences. Did your class feel rewarding or frustrating to play?
  9. Shadowlands: Introduced covenants and soulbinds. Did your class feel tied to the expansion’s systems in a good or bad way?
  10. Dragonflight: Brought talent trees back and focused on class identity. Does your class feel the most fun it’s ever been?

There’s no mention of a mage in Stranglethorn Vale. What gives?

you’re a warlock not a mage

Solid 0s across the board for class balance

Yeah, I was expecting a post about STV and running across a Mage who just didn’t care about anything going on, to go with the mean people post and the nice people post. We needed a middle ground people post.

if all of them are 0, then why are you still playing?

PvE I feel it’s the best it’s ever been. PvP I feel like they have homogenized classes too much over the years. I’d say height of wow pvp was wrath or MoP

Because I am stupid

Next question

I enjoyed each expansion for what it was. There isn’t a single right answer here.

What I like is that each expansion Blizz tries something new. This keeps the game fresh and fun.

Ah, self-awareness is the first step to greatness! But don’t sell yourself short—stupid people don’t usually ask for more questions. You’re clearly a genius in disguise.

Also despite my opinion that class balance has never been good does not mean I haven’t enjoyed parts of

Cata blood DK was hilariously overpowered, plus I just enjoy being self sufficient class even if it’s not the strongest

Dude asking these questions like I have any memory left after playing this game for so long.

it’s almost as if there has been classic versions of the game or something, “Shrug” idk

I will try but i’m old and don’t remember

  1. Vanilla/Classic WoW: Play a warrior and do twice as much damage as anyone else, no balance
  2. The Burning Crusade: Seemed fine at the time. Being locked out of content because you didn’t have 25 people sucked
  3. Wrath of the Lich King: Balance seemed good here, could raid with a small group, big win
  4. Cataclysm: ughh, went from main healer in a top 3(server) guild to not being able to heal a dungeon, broke me from main healing ever since
  5. Mists of Pandaria: I think balance was ok, hated the farming area. Island was fun at the end
  6. Warlords of Draenor: Another ughh, turned wow into a facebook game, terrible patches, we pretty much quit playing this one
  7. Legion: Great stuff, balance was all over the place. Curse you Blizzard for destroying my outlaw rogue one or two weeks in
  8. Battle for Azeroth: Balance not as good as the last few expansions but was a good time, was this corruptions? or was that legion, that was fun at the end
  9. Shadowlands: Covenants, oh boy. Everyone told them it was bad to lock you in one and they still did it. But they fixed it, class balance was ok. Felt weird switching covenants every patch to be in the best one
  10. Dragonflight: They have got good at class balancing. only 5-10% between top and bottom. Had some hits and misses on class reworks just like this expansion

Never been concerned with balance, so this is purely just “Did I find them fun?”

  • Vanilla / Classic = 5 / 10 - middle of the road
  • TBC = 6 / 10 - good improvements on top of the foundation. Also was a smart decision to open Shaman for Alliance and Paladin for Horde
  • Wrath = 7 / 10 - further improvements. DK was broken af for a good portion of the expac
  • Cataclysm = 6 / 10 - ruined Warrior for me. First expac where I actually stated playing other classes besides Warrior
  • MOP = 5 / 10 - Did not like the change from Talent Trees to Talent Rows. Monk is fun, though.
  • WOD = 5 / 10 - not much changed from MOP that I remember. Still salty over the Warrior changes in Cata
  • Legion = 4 / 10 - Did not like having to grind AP to unlock new powers. I also disliked Shadow Orbs being replaced with Insanity / Voidform for Priest
  • BFA = 4 / 10 - absolutely hated Azerite Powers and how some specs just straight up couldn’t function properly without them
  • SL = 4 / 10 - Didn’t play this expansion until the final patch, but I can only imagine how terrible Covenants and Soulbinds were without all the catch ups
  • DF = 7 / 10 - Love the return of Talent Trees
  • TWW = 6 / 10 - Hero Specs are hit or miss, but overall not too bad. Still getting used to the MM changes
