Yea, I said that on day 1…Spent an hour gathering all the glyphs, watched a video or two, wouldn’t give it up for anything now.
Hell, put it into the entire WOW universe!

I was so worried I would hate it, and, the first hour of having it I did too, then I read a very helpful post on these very forums about Dragon Riding and how to make life easier - step one - GET ALL GLYPHS, I love dragon riding now.
Prior expansions, I would open my map to where the quest giver was sending me and absolutely dread the long run there, no more … Wheeee!
Dragonriding sucks balls without glyphs. With all glyphs, it’s great.
It’s kinda sad that you have to find a guide, and watch videos before it becomes fun.
Right?
It’s no substitute for the basic flying we have now (doesn’t require you to “do” anything), but as a temporary expansion-specific gimmick it’s alright
Maybe they can simply increase the base flying mount speed modifier from 310% to something like 500-600%, to appease the vocal minority wanting to have this replace flying
This is typical Blizz, make a system feel bad, then tell you to farm something and watch guides and then it will be fun. Sorry, that is a sign of a poorly designed and implemented system.
Vested interest strikes again.
I don’t have all the glyphs and I suspect even if I did I wouldn’t find it fun, exactly. Don’t hate it, but I prefer using Soar instead at this point.
Don’t care for the look of the mount at all and it gets in the way of seeing where I’m going.
That said, I don’t hate it either. I’ll get better with practice, I’m sure. It’s not bad, it’s different.
The one bit of advice that I somehow failed to grasp was ‘point straight up’. Once I realized that was the bit I wasn’t grasping, things became far easier for me.
Some of my guildies are talking about getting the glyphs organically as they progress through the zone. I couldn’t care less, first thing I did when I unlocked the dragon was to go find all the glyphs.
Dragon flying is alright, was definitely over hyped, but it’s also not the worst thing introduced to WoW. By the time I reached the final zone, reaching one of the glyphs became kind of interesting.
I love it. I think it’s so fun.
Dragon riding sucks to start with because that’s the “explore the world a bit slower”. It literally takes less than 2 hours and you’re good. Even on alts. This is the best flying has ever been.
It’s only that way if you dislike adventuring and taking things slowly tbh. The basic achievements give hints on where to find glyphs, and you can use that to search. Way more fun (imo), and doesn’t require a guide at all
Isn’t that like 90%+ of the playerbase though? Even most of the “big” streamers are speed-rushing thru leveling, not reading thru quest text, not “taking in the scenery”, etc and just trying to cruise to level 70 as quickly as possible
I know I’m certainly not reading thru quest text and I’m skipping all cutscenes as well. It’s all about getting to level 70 quick, since that’s where the game “begins”
Sure, but what I replied to was that it’s not necessary at all lol. People who say it’s lame that you have to watch a guide to find these things, because they choose to rush through leveling.
There’s a reason the seasons don’t start for a couple of weeks, it allows players to not rush through lol
I’m old, I don’t have/want the time…press gas, dragon go…
Kinda like dungeons, and raids… and anything else you want to put effort in to get better at in this game.
Dragonriding is a blast. I’m probably one of the few that didn’t immediately fly off to max out my flight glyphs and it took some getting used to. Now I wouldn’t give it up for anything. Great feature.
I love it for questing, travel, and the new racing achievements/wq’s.
My biggest gripe with dragon riding comes from gathering however. It feels really bad when there are a bunch of mining nodes together and it would cost to many resources, and create grounded downtime, so the optimal path to farming is to skip basic mining nodes.
The idea that it is more beneficial to skip Serevite Ore nodes unless they are magically charged is awful. That feels REALLY bad from a design standpoint, and something that could be easily addressed by allowing normal flying mounts when you need to grab a bunch of things in a small area, but then switch back to dragon riding to clear large areas.
This is a silly argument. Dragon riding is literally twice the speed of regular flying.
Even then you don’t have to do either of the things he’s saying. Just download tomcat tours addon turn on the glyph markers and boom there you go. No reading guides or watching videos
Dear Blizzard thank you for Dragon Flight, i love the new flying mechanics…and hope that it be applied to all flying mounts & fast riding in the near future thank you !!!
