No. It’s literally a waste in the full sense. Think. You still need a rank 5 base item anyway. Even if you have a rank 4 on patch day it won’t make any difference.

Just make a rank 5, everyone. You don’t need a rank 1, 2, 3, or 4 to make a rank 5. Just skip to 5.

Even if you are a Mythic Raider it’s still a waste. Reforging and Upgrading is more expensive than making a new one.

I haven’t done Heroic this expansion. Check my Feats of Strenght. I have Xavious, Gul’Dan, Kil’Jaden, Gu’hun and N’Zoth.
Well, some people are more unlucky, like if a balance druid made arcanic pulsar lego, for example, has to remake a lego because the domination gear covers both slots, shoulders and hands. On the flip side a guardian druid who made ursocs fury, got very lucky since his slots were legs and cape, so no recrafting needed, assuming he’s happy with rank4.
