Old world in retail

One of the most wanted things among most types of collectors, is the ability to visit the old world (for the purposes of this thread, Old world is referring to Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, Pre 4.0.3 The shattering)

Why do players want this?
When we lost access to the old world, we lost access to several thousand quests (Exact number isn’t clear), over 80 recipes, 2 recipes, and who knows how many item transmogs.
Among these things are some amazing gems, such as the questchain of the shifting sands

Why not just play classic?
while talking to others about this, this was definitely the most common question,
honestly, classic is a different game, lots of people, including me, aren’t interested in starting over completely. it also comes with a lot of restrictions,
(there is also the possibility it will soon be lost again with classic cata)

How could this work?
I think we can all agree that adding a zidormi to every classic zone would be a phasing mess, Ideally It would be good if they were kept as two completely separate continents,
Classic zones have different zone ID’s than their retail counterparts, this could maybe be a good starting point,

to access this, an NPC in orgrimmar and stormwind.

There is a lot more to say on this topic, but if I make this original post to long no one is going to read it lol, sticking to the basics for it

This would be great for players who didn’t play before Cataclysm was released. It could be added as a timeline to Chromie.

there are hints we might be getting the old version of scholomance in 10.1.5, (and maybe naxx too? though this is less likely since the nexus crystal item doesnt exist at all in the PTR as far as I can tell) which would be really awesome

but this does make me wonder, I can’t see any reason anyone would be against old scholomance returning (correct me if Im wrong) but naxx,
Would people be okay with the return of Corrupted Ashbringer and Aetish? since they were both a part of old naxx

Curious on thoughts about this

Edit: other council folk Sha suggested a compromise that others seem okay with,
Keeping the original Item ID’s and quests and such, but removing the actual staff item as a reward, instead only rewarding the appearance, like an ensemble,
letting players collect the original appearances and quests, but keeping the actual item special
