Heck no. I am actually paying blizzard to do that type of content. Why would they want to change the game in that manner so they lose $$$.
If you don’t like professions just don’t do them. There is no reason you have to have professions in old content, they purposely designed the system so you can just skip that.
Why in the world would you want to take away content other people enjoy doing?
This kinda doesn’t make sense. The game lasted perfectly fine when we only had one level of professions to level. Lasted just fine when we had two or three. Now we have eight expansions worth of profession leveling for any new alt. I don’t see any reason not to keep that down to two or three.
Also, “if you don’t like it don’t do it” reduced the amount of time a person plays more than just reducing the profession grind from eight expansions to three.
really, that is why people were complaining and wanting catch ups because they were happy to level up to 300 or whatnot.
and they have broken it up so you don’t need to do it all, you only need to do the current expansion if you want and the other people who like doing professions can do them all.
Well either you are doing it now and with this change you would spend less time 8 vs 3. Or you aren’t doing it now and nothing would change except people like me who don’t want their content nerfed would be happy.
I’ve wanted this for so long and I do have characters I don’t play but keep around because they have unobtainable recipes among other things.
Because it’s such a good idea and likely to be so well embraced by everyone however I just can’t see Blizzard going for it as the anti-fun committee will quash it.
I think this is the most valid argument against, and the main reason it hasn’t been done yet. When there are conflicting reps, which one gets shared? The same holds true for Frenzyheart/Orcales, Aldor/Scryers, Steemwheedle/Bloodsail, etc. Maybe those could start at neutral, but you can speak to an NPC for those factions, to see which rep you inherit. So, when you decide to join the Scryers, for example, you automatically jump to the highest rank for your account. Lock it in for like a week before you can switch.
Like it’s been said early on in the thread, boosting your rep with any past faction could simply be done by buying an account-bound token on the alt that has the rep. Makes maxing each past rep on a new alt totally optional. Getting attacked in Booty Bay or anywhere else would not be an issue unless you specifically decided to boost that rep.
You can ride up on the mount your main earned from that faction. At this point, it’s just another dated system that stretches your playtime, if you even choose to do it. There are plenty of factions that I won’t even go back to on an alt, because that’s time I could spend elsewhere. My main example is the jeweled panthers from Order of the Cloud Serpent. I have done that faction twice (for the gold and green mounts, before they were account-wide), but not on my Jewelcrafter. So, I need to go back and earn it yet again, even though I already have Exalted for my account-wide mount achievement, just to buy the mount designs. As much as I want them, it doesn’t fit into my current priority list to go back and do already-exalted reps again. As it is, I’ve been playing too many alts, causing my renown to not be ready for 9.1. So, now I have that to catch up on… etc.
Totally agree. At the rate we level characters today, you have to make a special effort to go back and get the reputation with the certain factions you want. Use the time walking badges we all have tons of and make it so you can just buy a token per xpac that gives the account access to the highest version of the reputation for each faction.
Mm… nah, I disagree. We have too much “account bound” stuff as it is, I think we should have less. Especially with reputation. I steadfastly believe that should always remain character-centric, and not player-centric.
I wouldn’t embrace it. There is lots of people who think things should be character specific. Working on those kinds of things on alts is what keeps me paying right now since there was nothing in Shadowlands for me.
