Old Skills Or Talents that should return

This is of course wishful thinking.
I was going through some old talents and skills DKs had back when talent trees were a thing, and it amazed me on how many things were actually gutted from our class in general that would be cool to have come back. Seeing as other classes are getting some old skills, talents, azurite and more back, maybe we should too? So this is a post about it.

Let’s Start with the skill Icy Touch.
With the Glyph, and talents, Icy touch would do the following
" * Your Icy Touch dispels one helpful Magic effect from the target." It would also apply frost fever and with talents would make frost fever reduce melee/ranged attack speed by 6 percent. It was used mainly as a dispel as the damage was not high.

I think returning this skill in the general tree in place of Chains of Ice (makes chains baseline) Would be a nice touch and give some more utility back to Dks. If I recall it was removed in legion.

Hysteria: induces a friendly a target into a killing frenzy for 30 seconds. The target is Enraged. Physical damage increased by 20%. Health equal to 1% of maximum health lost every sec

This was a fun 3min big big damage boost which could be used on yourself, party members, (even the gargoyle too). I think this would be a great addition to return back to Dks. I think it should be a choice node with soul reaper.

It was mentioned before in an other post about hungering cold returning, though imo we already have it with blinding sheet.

I think the old-school Bone Shield should return. in some form.
“The Death Knight is surrounded by 3 whirling bones. While at least 1 bone remains, <he/she> takes 20% less damage from all sources and deals 2% more damage with all attacks, spells and abilities. Each damaging attack that lands consumes 1 bone” I am not sure how it would be implemented for modern wow, but I’d like it to.

Old School Dancing Rune Weapon. "
Requires Melee Weapon
Summons a second rune weapon that fights on its own for 12 sec, doing the same attacks as the Death Knight but for 50% reduced damage" I think this should return in the general tree. For blood, if you select it in your blood tree will give this skill the added defenses that it does now on live.

The talent Abominations might is essentially what modern warrior battle shout is now.
I’d be 100% okay if this returned. The current talent might of Thassarian (2% increased str) could be updated to also include Abominations might in it (increases attack power of yourself and all raid members by 5%. Also increases your own str by 2%)
Right now the 2% str increase is pretty much a must pick anyhow in pve, why not give DK some more utility?

Maybe this next one should be UH only, but could be all dks maybe? but the old ebon plaguebringer could return,
It used to"Your Crypt Fever morphs into Ebon Plague, which increases magic damage taken by 13% in addition to increasing disease damage taken. Improves your critical strike chance with weapons and spells by 3% at all times."
This could be reimagined to be similar to the DH debuff. My suggestion
Ebon Plaguebringer
“Your spec disease also increases the magic damage the target takes by 5%. Increases your crit chance by 3%.”

There were several talents in general that affected auto attacks in the trees (necrosis for example) What if we updated the current icy talons to keep the auto attack speed increase, but also cause your auto attacks to do an additional X amount of Shadowfrost damage as well?

Lastly, some thoughts on my own, the Old KM was not based on crits, but based on all melee attacks. I would 100% would like back instead of the crit based one. I also am all for removing wounds and replacing it back with disease play again.

Wraith Walk, not new but I wish you didn’t cancel it from using any other button.

Too add, DKs, imo feel too specialized, unlike before where all schools played a part in your class. I’d love it to feel like that again, though I am not sure what else the Devs could do without a big revamp.

I’ve been playing UHDK quite a lot in the WOTLK beta/prepatch and will be playing it come wrath. Not enough to completely understand the way it works yet but I do find myself enjoying and missing several things:

Functionally I do miss presences. They were a genuinely cool mechanic which allowed you to change your playstyle, especially the baseline movement speed and GCD reduction with unholy.

I also enjoyed the older rune system. It wasn’t by any means perfect, but the runes all having an ICD element adds a large skill element especially on pull that was cool. Scourge strike felt more meaningful and did a lot of damage but the downtime wasn’t much fun when your runes weren’t up.

Ghoul frenzy was also a cool weird ability that increased pet interaction a lot having to maintain the buff. I wish there was more like it but it was awkward as hell using an unholy rune.

Overall I think the theme of the original DK was aesthetically good and I miss the little stuff like the runeforging animation, but I don’t think the gameplay stands up well and I think the AOTD/Apocalypse hook beats the strange gargoyle gameplay. But I do miss some flavour aspects like presences, rune ICD’s and having talented pet abilities.
